Coronavirus

I don’t think a Democrat would’ve downplayed the virus for weeks and then suddenly tell Americans in Europe that all travel between the two continents would be cut off. And then once the chaos erupted, go back on that.

Trump downplayed and lied about the virus the entire time he was president because:

A) he’s stupid. Cabinet members even referred to him as a “****ing moron.”
B) he’s a narcissist that could only care about his own reelection. So that’s why he promoted quack cures like Hydroxy, flashlights, disinfectant, and horse dewormer.
C) he never could take responsibility. When times got tough, whether it be social justice issues or a pandemic, he completely faltered. We saw what he did with his first crisis, Maria. He shot paper towels at people. He makes problems worse.

The proof is in the pudding. He makes problems worse. He’s completely incapable of empathy, is too mentally handicapped to work out problems, and his personality isn’t to bring people together. He made the George Floyd death worse. He wanted to start a race war.
So again for the 3rd time, what could a democrat do to not lose 9.4 millions jobs during covid?

I agree with all this. I never blamed trump for much of anything covid related. There was no right way to handle it. Close stuff and everyone is going broke and can't pay bills and getting depressed and scared and suicidal, and anxious and tense and everyone thinks you should have done it differently.

Leave stuff open and hospitals are getting too full and people are dying (people are dying in the other scenario as well just not in similar pace or fashion) and every one thinks you should have done it differently.

In regards to covid I was mostly only critical for trumps deceit and stupid things he said and kind of being inflammatory (he is always that at all times. It's who he is and always has been). But as far as what he actually did and didn't do i don't really think even the best president of all time could have done things.

Completely disagree.

Trump downplayed the virus, made it tribal, and made the social justice issues that summer worse. Had he used the pandemic as a way to unify people, jobs would’ve been saved, as many lives wouldn’t have been lost, and the pandemic wouldn’t have been as damaging. We had so much more excess death and loss of prosperity because Trump made covid a dick measuring issue because all he could focus on was his own reelection.

Imagine the difference that could’ve been made had he been honest and upfront from the beginning, got serious about testing and tracing, told his supporters the importance of masking and vaccinations. Other social safety nets could’ve been expanded. Instead he threw science out the window and made all the problems our country faces that year worse. He was literally the worst person on the planet who could’ve been placed in that position.

We really need to stop giving Trump a pass. Is Hoover given a pass for the Great Depression? LBJ for civil rights disruptions or Vietnam? Carter for Nixon running the economy hot and causing inflation? Bush for 9/11, Katrina, Iraqi war? Hillary was certainly never given a pass for Benghazi. Why is Trump given a pass for that entire year?

it’s ironic that trumpers want to give Trump a pass for covid but want to throw all of the effects of the pandemic on Biden. Inflation, supply chain issues, etc are all Biden’s fault. This is where the asymmetrical warfare between the two parties (one a party of adolescent children who scream nonstop about bias and the other the adults in the room acting responsibly) is most apparent.

I know you didnt. When I came back to posting on this site, I read your posts and everyone’s else’s. I remember you were worried about getting fired for using sick days at the beginning of Covid. No one knew how to navigate it properly. I had a little hope that Florida would not shut down, so my business wouldn’t be affected; at the same time I had family members upset with me because they thought I should be locked up at my house and keep everyone safe.

Everyone was looking out for themselves or their family which I can respect.

Leadership is lonely. Decisions will always be criticized, especially with Presidents.

Ya trump sucked at dealing with an unprecedented pandemic situation.

We all agree. Bucknutz agrees.

His point, and I agree with it, is that anyone else would have sucked at handling it as well. They wouldn't have been all over TV blatantly sucking at it like trump did and always will do..... But the results of whatever the "good" president did would have been either A. A great depression. Or B. Lots of deaths and full hospitals. Or C. Somewhere in the middle with a little bit of both.

What trumps administration did in regards to covid is one of those 3 things as well.

There is no plan D. Everyone stays healthy and no one dies and no one's finances go to hell and nothing gets shutdown etc etc.

I mean I know you were team shut everything down, everyone wear masks, everyone maintain social distancing, etc. but that plan results in lots of deaths too. Some still die from the virus anyway and a whole bunch more die from depression, suffer extreme mental health issues, go into extreme debt and poverty, etc when the number of deaths, though high and meaningful, were a very small percentile and lots of people were getting sick and not feeling a thing.

It was a tricky, messy, ***********. Trump behaved like trump always behaves. Extremely poorly. He was inexperienced, incompetent, unrepentant, dishonest, inflammatory.... He was all things that make him trump. But the situation was ****ed regardless.

I think any Democrat (and probably a number of republicans too) would’ve been a lot better than Trump. Fewer deaths, fewer lost jobs, and a faster recovery. There’s a lot of room between fantasyland of no death or loss of life and what Trump gave us.

I don’t think we should downplay how awful Trump was. Yeah, 2020 sucked, but he was horrible and made things worse. Give the nation Obama, Romney, Clinton, or Biden and the nation would’ve been far better off.

Why would people go into extreme debt? Expand the social safety net until better treatments, more testing, and vaccines could’ve been developed.

Agree with this.

I hope we give Biden a pass for inflation then. After all, all other industrialized nations are suffering from it (worse than we are) due to economies recovering from the pandemic. Right? After all, he’s had to deal with the mess that Trump, Covid, and systemic racial injustice have left behind, right?

Florida was one of the deadliest states in the nation due to its lax Covid policy… facts matter

“It has been reported that deaths from unintentional injury decreased as a result of lockdown measures, but deaths from chronic disease, drug overdoses, and suicides have increased.4,5

Florida was chosen for our analysis because COVID-19 disproportionately affected the state’s population, and, historically, it has one of the highest numbers of influenza or pneumonia mortalities in the United States.”

I wonder why?

All the more reason to help mitigate the effects of Covid on its older population.

It doesn't work like that. Shut everything down and save all the lives but from what I remember everything DIDN'T get shut down (this is one of the things that you hate trump for. Lax covid policies) and STILL we were fighting for the last roll of toilet paper.

Shut everything down? Who is producing food with the production facilities shut down? Who is driving the trucks to deliver goods? Who is working in the grocery stores?

Look, I agree that trump handled horribly but if Obama was president lots of people still would have died, the economy would have had major disruption and it would have been a horrible time in all of our lives. But it would have looked much better due to the fact that Obama is vastly more intelligent and has miles more class.

I mean trump wasn't the president of the other hundreds of nations of planet earth right? There were catastrophic disasters occurring all around the globe without trump running things.

Exactly. Myself and you have said this many many times. And it is true as well. Biden isn't responsible for all things economic in this country.
Much of it is out of his control.

Same with trump and covid. He deserves some blame for some things (mostly just being his normal douchey self) but much of it was out of his, or anyone's, control

It wasn’t his lax covid policies. It was his completely contradictory messages, “shut it down no liberate Michigan no now stuff a flashlight up your *** no now tell the n words that when the looting starts the shooting starts!” Yes, Covid would’ve been a big problem for any president. But he made the pandemic so much worse. He made it a tribal dick measuring contest by encouraging his followers to blow off masks, avoid testing, “liberate” states, try quack cures, downplay the seriousness of the virus, etc. Had Trump been president in 1941, he would’ve declared war on Canada after Pearl Harbor, encouraged his followers to drink lead paint, downplayed Pearl Harbor as a mere training exercise, and told his followers lynch Canadian Americans thinking that it might improve his chances at re-election.

all presidents deal with crisis. Could Trump have handled the pandemic and the George Floyd protests worse? I don’t think so. Would Biden, Clinton, Obama, or Romney have handled those issues far better? Absolutely. And at this pt, if someone here is still considering Trump this fall, you’re either dumber than rocks or you are a bad person.

...tell the n words that when...
Without question you are the most racist active poster on these boards. Do you get that your little substitution does nothing to hide the word you want to use? It is a distinction without a difference. Be better DutchThriller.

This is my only account. I'm not anyone other than this account and no one else who has ever been here is me. I was not here when Dutch posted however I use the search function extensively and have brought many ancient posts back from the depths of JF history. I will say that Dutch was more racist than you, but now that he's gone, you are the most racist active user.

Is that really the truth? I don’t think one can see Dutch’s posts anymore since he deleted his account/was banned.
