Could Gobert eventually replace Favors in the Starting Lineup?

KOC mentioned on the Zone that Gobert really took everyone by surprise with how ready he was during the Scrimmage.

I foresee Gobert as a Tyson Chandler type player for us and given heavy minutes, I really do think that he could eventually "overtake" Favors in terms of defensive presence and blocking ability. His size means that he is a true center and could be a great pivot for us for years to come.

Personally I could see this starting lineup as soon as the end of this season:

C: Gobert (solid size and defensive presence)
PF: Kanter (will abuse PF with his size and offensive repertoire)
SF: Hayward
SG: Burks
PG: Burke

Thoughts?

PG - Tyson Chandler : great length at this position. He just needs to get the ball up the court. No problem
SG - Tyson Chandler : great length at this position. He just needs to add a 3 point shot. No problem. 3&D.
SF - Tyson Chandler : height bishes!
PF - Tyson Chandler : great post defense. Speed to cover the stretch 4s.
C - Tyson Chandler : block parties every night.

Could it snow in June?

thread should have ended here tbh.

Sorry HN. There is simply no chance.

This could very well ended up being the case. Roy Hibbert was drafted #17, look where he is now.

You missed the part where OG is playing up his hate for Burke so that when he is wrong about him he can be like, "OMG lolz guys I was just trolling."

The answer is obviously yes because there are nearly endless circumstances that could result in that. Injury, over-performing by Gobert + under-performing by Favors, possibility of Favors taking on a 6th man role, trade, etc. etc.

A different question is how likely is it.

I think it goes without saying that the question is whether Gobert could PERMANENTLY replaces Favors in the starting lineup.

If he continues to develop at this rapid rate, and if Favors doesn't build an offensive arsenal, then yes I could see it. Favors had that nice little face up jumper in the scrimmage, but then he dissappeared (which seems to be how he operates--showing brilliance and fading). If the Jazz don't reach a deal on Favors before opening night, and if Favors doesn't wow us this year, then I could see us going with Gobert just because of the ridiculous amount of money someone else is going to offer Favors. At least I hope we wouldn't max an unproven/unpolished player, but then again our f/o did pass on drafting Dennis Schroeder w/ the 14 pick, Gobert w/ 21, and Neto w/ 46, and instead opted to spend an unnecessary pick and cash to get 2 of the same players, and 1 less athletic/elite/NBA ready PG; so stupider things have happened.

This is exactly my thought behind starting this thread.

Rep'd.
