Go ahead and compare the two teams shot charts. We forced the Kings into a lot more tough shots, Buddy Heild in particular made a lot of them. Ricky's inability to stay with Fox had a lot to do with the starters defensive woes. The truth hurts. WCS had 23 pts on 10-15 shooting and made Gobert his bitch on several plays. Gobert was powerless to stop the spin move and didn't affect any of his shots in the 2nd half. WCS was able to shoot over him or go around him. Not a good match up for Rudy at all.
The only starter with a positive +/- was Favors - because he was in with the 2nd unit when they made their run. The starters sucked big time on defense in the 1st and 3rd quarters; they couldn't stop anyone. Hield, Fox and WCS looked like all-stars. Great to see Quin not afraid to pull Ricky and insert Dante.
WCS played really well for sure, probably about as well as he is capable at this point. This wasn't close to Rudy's best game defensively but he was in no way shape or form even remotely Kanteresque. That you think so makes me think you don't understand the first thing about this team, or even just basketball in general.
Maybe that's harsh. But man, come on.
