Countdown to Game #1 - Utah Jazz @ Sacramento Kings

Not game related but the two (somewhat realistic and sometimes discussed) guys I have really wanted the jazz to somehow get both had great games last night.
Niko Mirotic: 30 minutes, 11-20 from the field, 6-8 from three (!), 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 30 points
I was looking for somewhere to post this. Great minds.

Is Ingles going to be better than Hayward this year? Will GH be a poor man’s Ingles? Obviously he has a huge contract so you could argue a rich man’s overpaying Ingles?

Steph is a poor mans Ingles... Gordon is a rich mans luke Walton

Aaron Gordon: 38 minutes, 9-18 from the field, 4-5 from three, 16 rebounds and 26 points.

I didn’t want to mention Niko... @infection has been through enough.

He does run really hot sometimes and Gordon started really hot last year too... still keeping an eye on those guys.

I was very disappointed with the defense last night. Still have a ways to go to resemble an elite defense.
It wasnt that bad. I think the defensive rating ended up being league average for last year.

Sacramento hit a lot of tough shots from the mid-range and non-restricted paint area. They had 22 mid-range points.

Rewatching the game 3:02 left in yhe second, Rudy gets burned in transition and Joe just rips into him. Intense.
Missed that but probably is a good indicator to the strength of our team is everything, they tight like that.

Yeah i think its a great thing, Cauley-Stein just flat out gut runs Rudy and catches him napping, Joe is having none of it.

Its also just a scouting report / "KYP" (know your personnel) moment too. This is not the Zach Randolph led Kings team from last year that finished dead last in PACE, their bigs are running the floor hard at every occasion. They try to inbound the ball as quick as possible.

The dumb **** about the Kings is that they would actually have a really nice future if they drafted Doncic.

And they're both on my fantasy team (not the JF league).

Yeah, I noticed that too. Impressive.
I watched most of that game, and he looked very good offensively, but he doesn't look good defensively, and in particular not when switched on quicker guys.
During that game, the Rockets announcers had a rant about Miro's flopping, saying he's sooo good at it, and picked it up in Europe like all other Euros, football, yadayada, saying they have no love for flopping. With Harden and CP3 on the court...

I want to believe this was the reason he played so bad.

Maybe, but they were all off a bit this game. It was actually a good opponent to shake off the first-game jitters for everyone. Give it to the Kings, they played scrappy ball and pushed us in a way I think we didn't expect. Hopefully this serves as the wake-up call and now we will start clicking more. I expect pretty much everyone to have a much better game in the next one.

This. I would not be surprised one bit to see Ingles out-perform Hayturd this year, and I will love every second of it. Would be hilarious if Ingles puts up better stats and gets an all-star nod in the hyper-competitive west while Hayworthless gets snubbed in the weak east.

It was almost like those were the shots we wanted them to take (it was... they just made them at a higher rate). I do think we could change up and have Rudy show hard on a couple of those to make them think a little harder.

With the guys they put out there it wasn't the "Kangz"... had they played Giles and Bagley more then we likely beat them by 20. They gave the vet guys more run than I expected, but they have nothing to tank for... I guess it isn't development time yet.

there are 6-7 guys picked in the lotto that I'd rather have if I was them. They need a bigger whiteboard in Vlade's office.

I've predicted Ingles will be just over 17ppg. Add in his defense and playmaking. .... That's better than Haywood this year, no doubt.
He prefers to be called by his real name, Haymother****ingsonofabitch thank you very much

edit: that was a little harsh. I am sure his mother is a fine person.

Let's stick with Hayworthless.
