Hmm, statistically I think it is probable. That doesn't mean they will be better players just better in pick and rolls. They are both the some of the top players in the NBA in those roles.

Not a chance. Rubio is not the shooter or passer than Stockton was. Gobert is not as good as Malone on offense.

U must've missed the Stockton Malone era?

Nope watched it all. Try again.

You have rose colored glasses. They were really good but most of what made them great was the longevity not the peak.

Statistically I think its a safe bet they run the pick and roll more efficiently. How did Gobert do in the pick and roll last year compared to Malone's best year?

What? One player in league history has averaged 14 assists per game for a season. His name is John Stockton and he did it twice. 3 players averaged over 13 per year and stockton is the only one to do it multiple years(5 times). His peak was far better as a passer than anybody in league history. The fact that he did it for a long time as well makes it astonishing.

They are not hard stats to find.

Rubio is a very problematic offensive player. Not only he absolutely can't finish inside but he was awful making long jumpers for most of his career. Only last year he became good on long 2s but was still bad on 3s. Previously, he had one good year shooting 3s (2014-15), but that ability went away. I think no one should expect any consistency from him in the shooting departament. Hence, no one should expect the p&r with him to be deadly.

I'm just waiting for the "Countdown until Donovan Mitchell is better than Michael Jordan" thread.

His passing was great. Where those in pick and roll situations? How efficient where they? I am not questioning Malone and Stockton being better just if the pick and roll will be more efficient.

Stockton's career FG% was 52%. He had to be respected in the P&R. Rubio? May as well double Gobert and let Rubio drive in for a layup, which he usually misses. Didn't this board jokingly track "MLA's" when Harpring played? Bring back the stat for Rubio!

Unless Rubio improves his shooting, teams are going to stop Gobert - and cover Hood and Ingles behind the arc - and just let Rubio take a ton of shots.
