Me neither, I think Nico hates Cuban/Luka or both so much to not creating a bidding war, it is just crazy to make huge deal in mid-season.

I don't know that Nico hates Cuban/Luka as much as the new owners ordered him to do it. Vegas is starving for an NBA franchise, the Jazz aren't moving, that trade literally dropped a Little Boy on the Mavericks roster, and the fans are overnight done with the franchise. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop now.
They got their D better in the Lakers trade. Now they need another scorer. They will make another trade. I think they go after LaVine or Butler.
The funny thing is you know those 2nd rounders getting sold for cash on draft night

It's one of the bigger markets in the NBA. Massive and growing at an extremely rapid rate.
Be real. Trading away a 25 year old MVP caliber talent doesnt happen. Especially not without malcontent, trade request or something like legal issues. Also especially not when the dude is coming off a Finals run.
There is no "even trade math" here. Only way Luka trade is fair is if there was a bidding war, and its already been reported that most GMs were clueless.
Just calling AD a DPOY is an undersell. He's a 10 time all-star, 4 time first team player.
The Mavs didn't want a bidding war probably. It's been reported they asked another team with a star and they said no. It was probably Giannis. My only gripe is they didn't get two picks, but I get why that would be a line in the sand for the Lakers.
It's a unique situation. The Mavs like what they built and don't want a pick based package. They wanted a star and AD is absolutely still a star. They got a top 10 player, a great future draft pick, and a good young defensive minded role player who can shoot. The more I think about it, the more I like it for the Mavs. It's bold and daring, something NBA teams severely lack when they just go for massive draft assets to sell a fan base on a future that likely will nev come.
And during the finals Luka was exposed for the world to see and apparently came back from that and didn't learn the lesson.

I am old enough to remember when folks said the NFL wasn't moving out of LA.
The problem is that a new arena isn't a sure thing in Dallas and the new owners have visions of building a casino-arena complex. If Texas does not legalize gambling...
I would be shocked. The DFW is like 8+ million and growing at a faster rate than any metropolitan in the US.
I think I would be willing to bet against Luka's longevity. I dont think he will last a long time if he doesnt change a lot of things about his lifestyle.
However its a value driven business, and there were teams willing to give twice the value for him. AD may be one of the best fits, but I dont see how giving away your best player could ever be "win now" move where you focus on best fit so damn hard.
Betting against the Lakers FO to make moves necessary for Luka to win in the West would be my spin on it. The Lakers have one tradeable first I believe? Free agency is becoming less of a thing, but there will probably be someone willing to leave their current franchise for LA+Luka.
Without a major addition are the Lakers even a playoff team next year?

Vegas is also growing very rapidly. If the biggest sports league can leave Los freakin' Angeles, then anything is possible. There is a hell of a lot more tourism dollars on the Strip, the new owners are Casino moguls, Silver has hardly hid his boner over a franchise in Vegas, and there's two teams in Texas already. So it makes it an expansion ready play to add two teams in Seattle and Dallas.
They can just do expansion. They don't need to move a team. Plus New Orleans exist
They don't have matching salary.
Trades will be very hard until everyone is signed under the bigger money salary cap.

Yeah, you're right. Truth of the matter is I can't back any of my bull**** up beyond what I've already stated. This is just coffee-less brain trying to wrap my head around WTF Dallas is doing.
