What's new

Dante Exum will suffer the same fate as Enes Kanter.

That Kobe Bryant high school video is hilarious. Talk about a lack of competition. He was far and away the biggest dude on the court.

Every player projected to be good/great at the top of the draft is going to draw comparisons to great players. Some of that is true observation, some of it is wishful thinking.

I didn't compare Ex to Penny's size. Why some of you went there I have no idea. I compared his post game. I don't think Ex will be Kobe, but his drives do look Kobesque. That's not a crazy thing to say.

****, analyst we're comparing him to Jordan. Those worried about what others think of these comparisons can pound sand.

All these Michael Jordan Kobe bryant comparisons are absolutely hilarious.

Honestly Yams, you have been an Exum hater for a while now. I can't wait to rub it in your face when he starts tearing the league up.

These threads are getting to be an embarrassment for this board. Imagine if other team fans came here and saw these ridiculous comparisons? Oof. It's like jazzfanz's name should be changed to clutchjazz. Yeah, I said it.

I liked and posted this thread ONLY because the ultimate insult is to be a Rockets or Lakers fan. Kudos on the insult.

Ever compare us to them again and I'll ban you for eternity.

Exum is what Shawn Livingston should have been. A solid contributor post-knee, he would have been an All Star if it never went bad

Oh yeah? Can you please link to the video you're speaking of?

After watching more and more games, you can see where the Penny/Kobe comparisons come from. His drive does remind you of Kobe's long strides to the basket. His post game, which he seems very comfortable with, very much reminds me of Penny Hardaway. More and more I don't think this guy is a PG. Sure, he can pass ok, his size allows him to see the floor better and make plays, but he can't make an entry pass to save his life and his passing is not NBA PG quality IMO. I think he'll make a great SG who can create for himself and others. I think he and Trey are going to compliment each other really well.

Like many have already mentioned, he needs to work on his shooting. I don't see him use his off hand much at all, which is a little concerning, but he does like to go left...kinda strange. I think he'll come in right away and be able to get to the hole, but he has a lot of work to do on the other parts of his game.

I can't wait to watch him torch everyone in Summer League.
Sure. And we know how SL performance translates to NBA success. That Ian Clark guy tore things up last year after winning SL MVP.
As purely a SG prospect, Exum would not have gone top-5. If he's going to be an ELITE player in the NBA, he'll have to do it primarily as a PG. Burks is a better SG than Dante. He can get to the rim and finish shots. Exum needs to be a 6'6" PG who can dominate the smaller points with his size and still keep up with them on defense because of his speed. And dominate bigger PG's in the league with superior speed, but match up against them on defense because of his size. He'd still have a speed advantage over SG's, but 6'6" is not a huge advantage against many starters.

A backcourt of 6'6" Dante, 6'8" Hayward with Burks off the bench is my fantasy.

Sorry Mr. Ebert, there are so many Exum threads and I thought this post was in this one. Anyways, it's pretty fun to watch because Kobe is insane and everyone else sucks.

Just trying to keep you honest, good sir. There is a lot of malarkey that happens on this board. I do, however, appreciate the link.

Why in the world would anybody at this stage compare Exum to Jordan or Bryant? It's insanely early on in the process and Exum has far too little experience against top notch talent to make such huge assumptions.

I thought the comparison of Wiggins to James was insane as well. When you start talking about comparisons not only to the best in the game recently, but guys all time greats like Kobe, LeBron, and Mike it's going too far.

I agree it's early to truly compare. The comparisons need to be kept in context. As someone said we are comparing an 18-year-old and the maximum evolution of his game to others who have set the standard in the league...what's wrong with a little bench racing? I have to laugh at some of you who take yourself so seriously that you can't allow a little speculation, even if it is far-fetched at this point. There's nothing about Exum's game that RULES OUT his ability to become one of the greatest of all time. If we had the internet in Jordan's day when he was 18-years-old there would have been holier-than-thou types bashing anyone comparing him to Jerry West or Earl Monroe or any of the greats before him.

Yea because we should chose are posts based on what others think?? Or you can not care what other people think and state your own opinion. The difference is one has "palle's" and one doesn't.

Because when you say "this guy reminds me of a young Xavier McDaniels or even perhaps a Jack Sikma with a better skyhook," only 3% of the population is going to know what the heck you are talking about. You make comparisons to stars because people are actually familiar with their game. Also, yes, they haven't played a game and are 18 or 19. Those are the type of people that have room to really be something great. Go ahead and root for them to become that while it is still possible. Kobe Bryant wasn't even Kobe Bryant when he was 19. Man, we have a highly touted rookie at the start of summer camp. He is the GOAT until someone kills that dream. With that quick first step, I think that Exum is going to DESTROY at summer league. It's OK, talk smack. And if they don't do as well as they could have, it's *****'n summer league. Pre season is just around the corner. Smile and laugh a little.

No, at Jazzfanz we borderline HATE our own players, and determine them busts at age 20. All of the overzealous player comps are reserved for players on other teams. "Giannis is basically Durant that plays defense. . ."
