What's new

Dante has been out forever because he ded

No, because it doesn't mean anything. Our recent streak doesn't mean we can do without Ricky, or Dante, or that Donovan can play full-time PG. It means we have depth to beat bad teams. Doesn't mean we have depth to beat good teams - as our loss to Portland proves.
Our loss to Portland can’t prove that unless the win against Denver proves the opposite.

Seriously? You wanted a comparison of wins. We beat Portland twice with Dante, lost to them without him. It is so hard to accept we're a better team with Dante?
I didn't ask for a comparison of games. I asked for a stretch of games where we played better than we are now. Like a 10 game stretch earlier this year.
I will wait.

Ricky was back starting for the Denver game, wasn't he? So you're still not comparing like for like. If anything, it proves my point about more depth being better.

Strength of schedule and travel demands have been the determining factor in our season. Our schedule went from toughest to easiest almost overnight. Someone posted a graph showing just how dramatic the change was, it's not something you can hand-wave away. Dante, and Ricky, and Thabo, were all injured just before the change. Using our record before/after this change proves nothing about Dante, or Ricky, or Thabo, or Neto, or even Grayson who came back just after the switch and got court time. We can't read anything into or make any judgements on anyone based on our recent streak, because our schedule has been so favorable.

14-5 in games Exum plays less than 10 minutes or doesn't play at all. (Used less than 10 for a bigger sample and to take from games earlier in the season- 9-2 when he just doesn't play)

15-17 when he plays 10+ minutes.
Firstly at the start of the season until the last 10 games Donovan was shooting the jazz out of games. Secondly quin had Dante playing in the corner at the start of the season. The Portland games are interesting when he plays they. When he didn't they lost. Against Portand lilard is the key. Who could defend him better than Dante?

C'mon, Fish, you're better than this. You know full well that our early schedule was brutal. You know we're playing like we are because we finally aren't travelling between almost every game and we're finally playing more bad teams than good.

All we need is the eye test. Donovan is a completely different player lately and Dante was breaking out big time. Even Ricky seems to have improved if I'm not mistaken. Joe is maybe a little worse. Jae a little better. Rudy is the same dominator. Korver has been a big difference.
We are better than before IMO, and we'd be even better with Dante flying through defenses and shutting people down.

The real answer to your question is, there is no better stretch than now.

What I see from other people are reasons/excuses for why that is. And whilst some of those reasons may be valid, the schedule easing up is not the only reason why we're playing better.

It was a simple question he asked bud. A closed ended question that really required only a one word answer.

If he's willing to get into the reasons as to why, then that's a follow up discussion.

Who is saying that Exum isn’t more valuable to our team than an empty bench seat? Feels like a total straw man, and it’s absolutely insane to say that we aren’t playing waaaaay better since the New Year than we were in October and November, with December basically being the transition month, schedule be damned, obviously something clicked.

Exum can come back and join in with the team playing great, that’d be awesome. No one has to make excuses for Exum by trashing what the Jazz have been doing without him.

I have said as much already. My whole point has been we are playing our best basketball right now. I don't see how anyone can disagree.

There are certainly reasons why we are playing our best ball right now. Many reasons. Doesn't make it not true though does it?

Olidipo just blew up his knee by trying to play when he was still sore, and no doubt there were a bunch of dumbasses in Indiana bitching and moaning about him not being able to play sooner.

Also, if Exum did suffer another serious injury, the crybabies on this board would be the first to point fingers and blame the medical staff for not handling the situation more carefully.

With Exum suffering 2 injuries that kept him out long term, it seems kind of obvious that Utah should err on the side of caution to prevent another catastrophe. Thank God none of the idiots on this board have any influence on such important decisions.

One of us idiots might have also drafted a better player, and not have to worry about a china doll with a career PER of 8.

I think there is meant to be an update on Dante's situation tomorrow right? I believe it is exactly two weeks since the last update.

In two winning games against Portland, Dante averaged 19 mins, 11.5 points, and 6 assists, and our average winning margin was 25.5 points.

In our game against Portland where Dante was injured, we lost by 5 points.
Wait, it couldnt be because Rubio played few minutes and that Nurkic went for 17 pts in the 3rd quarter. It has to be because we missed Bambi. Got it

It’s not overly complicated in my mind. If we get aggressive, decisive Dante back, we are better. If we get timid, 30% TO-rate Dante back, we are worse.

That depends on quin. If he allows Dante to play at the top or at the 45 with the ball in his hands. If he puts him in the corner that won't work

Jazz have announced that Exum will be out until after the all star break. Also, Sefelosha and Neto will be reevaluated in one week.
