Even so.
Burks never started and played behind worse players than enes in his first three years and probably played less total minutes (even though he played behind crappier players....... I could be wrong about who played less minutes but I feel like it was Burks due to all the dnp's his first two years) than kanter.
You are right, Burks did play behind worse players. That was messed up for sure. But, Alec played more minutes than Enes. Alec played 4269 his first three seasons, and Enes played 4150. Only a difference of 119, but still..
Don't really matter though. Burks got screwed over his first 3 years.... never bitched..... seems to have a good relationship with his teammates..... likes the city and fans..... gave it his best effort during games...... and accepted a good reasonable contract extension.
Burks did too bitch. There is also nothing wrong with a player saying they should play more. That's what you want. You don't want a player who is fine with DNP's and sporadic minutes. You especially don't want that from your lottery picks, or else they end up like Marvin Williams: #2 overall selected who was always content with being a rotation player despite his talent.
Difference is, Burks was relied upon and given a clear role in his third year. He didn't start, but he was given the keys to the second unit. He signed his contract extension because it is what he and his agent felt comfortable with, not to give us a break. I guarantee that.
Kanter got screwed over his first 3 years.... apparently bitched about stuff..... teammates seem to have not liked him.... didn't like the city, organisation, or fans.... didn't try his hardest during games.... and thought he was a max money dude.
Yeah, Kanter bitched, and took it too far. He said he talked with Alec Burks during halftime of the OKC game, and that they exchanged texts. I think he is also friendly with Favors. If you listen to Rudy's recent interview on the Big Show, he doesn't seem too upset with Enes either. Fans turned on Enes, as did the media post trade. A lot had done it sooner because they wanted Rudy to start, or they bought into the scapegoating last year. If you're 22, I'm sure that hurts. He's a ****ing punk, for sure.
Why do you fault him for thinking he's a max money dude? I want all of our lottery picks to feel that way until they're proven wrong. Their rookie contract is the time to prove that, and as you have already agreed, he was toyed with during this time frame and had proven players in front of him limiting his minutes. Maybe we thought he wasn't ready, maybe hwe thought he didn't fit right, and maybe we were trying to get a bargain. Whatever it was, it was a situation that tried to contain him.
If you listen to his "I know I didn't bring it every night," it could also be interpreted as "I know I wasn't consistent... but I was developing with a lot of potential so they still should have played me." He is Turkish, dude. English is his second language. His syntax is almost never right, so what makes you think he chose the right words with that sentence? It'd be a pretty stupid thing to say, don't you think?
As for the organization, he didn't say we were bad. He never said we are a bad organization. He said he was frustrated here. He said he still respects his coaches and teammates, etc. He said he his happier in OKC and it is like a dream he doesn't want to wake up from. It was OUR media who insinuated Utah was like a nightmare, to which he emphatically said no "No! I didn't say that." Then our media asked him what has impressed him about OKC and he started talking about their professionalism, his new teammates, and how awesome Westbrook is. He did say he never had a point guard before, which is harsh, but everyone here knows it is true. He also said the only thing he misses is the mountains. Childish for sure.
After the game he said OKC shouldn't be dropping games to teams not in the playoff race, which is a true statement. They are fighting for their playoff lives right now. People got way too butthurt over that comment.
Oh, and asked for a trade.
**** him
Yes he did. He saw the writing on the wall. It was being written in bold letters. Grantland and Pelton were travelling with the team and writing pieces on why Gobert should start. The NY game. The Dallas game. etc. We created a mess by signing Book (who is another player who bitched to management about his minutes), etc. and not accounting for Gobert's emergence.
