What's new

David Locke twits about Pau Gasol.

I like the two leaps you make:

1. That I'm incapable of getting fully erect
2. That I haven't been watching Jazz games for decades, thus not being able to "erect" myself at a perfectly orchestrated "Early-Oop".

I'll have you know that I live in Utah, and when Stockton made his shot, just a little bit of white stuff ran down my leg.
Sorry you spilled your sippy cup.

NAOS, i think you're overrating our "free agenty frenzy," underrating pau gasol, and completely failing to rate how badly we need al off the team. it doesn't matter because this trade is never happening, but we're never going to win anything if we pass on opportunities to bring talented, smart, near-elite players to utah just so we can hold onto cap space that allows us to say, "hey, we had a meeting with james harden right before he narrowed his list of possible teams down to 5 and didn't include us. yay, financial flexibility!!"

If it's just Al for Gasol I like it from a pure basketball standpoint. Gasol is a great passer and would be a nice compliment to Favors. However, I know nothing about the contract part of it.

Nobody has claimed that Pau isn't vastly superior to Al. I'm looking at $38 million dollars over two years, $19 million of which annihilates our FA spree.

And reading that I don't care for the trade at all now. I'm excited to see what KOC can do with cap space next year.

Locke has had some wierd obsession with Pau for years - in the second half of 2009-10 he said Gasol was better than Nowitzki and that he'd definitely choose Pau over Dirk. Still a good player with alot of skill - just not worth anything near his price tag if you don't have a top-10 player to pair with him.

Yeah, pretty sure this post confirms that you're a woman.

I always assumed you were a gangly tall woman, and now I learn this. Way too much information.

The Lakers trying to pair Bynum and Jefferson does NOT seem likely to me.
If they DO decide to pull the trigger on a Gasol trade it'll be for more than just Big Al, and you can bet they'd have a followup trade, likely to win them the Dwight Howard sweepstakes. A 3-team trade could happen too...

don't understand how everyone wants al gone so badly but are willing to take on gasol's horrible contract for the sake of a few extra assists.

it would restrict our prospects in free agency even more than ak's last contract and it doesn't at all help find minutes to aid the development of favors/kanter which is what most of you have been banging on about since the season ended.

oh, plus gasol is a laker-stained whiner. do not want.

Please. AK's contract was 6 years. We'd be putting up with Gasol's for essentially one year (assuming you trade him for Al - as we were set to pay Al next year anyway).

Preferably I'd like a 3 headed monster of Pau/Favors/Kanter. And then see what you can turn Millsap into.

I think this discussion has run its course and I've probably given out too much personal information here, so I'll take a break from my Pau stuff.

Anyone who is excited for FA, take a look at what is happening to Dallas. In one year, they have gone from NBA champs to competing for the #1 spot in the lottery. Cap space and draft picks are usually mirages, and usually never work out how you hope.

p.s. There is no way Harden looks at us when Dallas will have more than enough $$$ next summer.

I dont know about that...... harden might look at dallas and utah and see that the jazz have hayward, favors, burks, kanter, and millsap (young talented guys to play with). And then look at dallas and see...... Jason kidd? gone. Jason terry? gone. Dirk? old. roddy beoboius (?). Maybe harden chooses to go to the young talented team rather than the crappy older team.

Harden might also look at OKC and see one of the best collections of young talent the NBA has seen in decades.

I really just don't see him leaving KD and Westbrook. I think that team does it right and sticks together.

To be honest...I do not want this trade for a completely irrational reason. That reason is: Piss on the Lakers and everything to do with them. Don't deal with the devil. Don't do it.

It might not be his choice. OKC was rumored to be shopping him for Bradley Beal prior to the draft.
