What's new

Dennis Schroeder "will seek other opportunities to be a starter"...

Schroder's +13 in his first 6 minutes.. He's totally changed this game early on, shredding Detroits defense in halfcourt, has gotten 3 layups already.. Plus he should've had 2 ft's on one drive, and created a few open looks for teammates that were missed. All while applying full-court pressure.

Maybe he can play so well Teague goes on the block??

As I said earlier Schroeder has a high talent level like Exum, but with confidence and swagger. His ability to get to the rim, and his smarts of when to pull pack make him a great prospect. I'm telling you its all there. The kid has more star potential than Exum.

The only thing Exum has on Schroeder is measurements. But you can't disregard those. :(

I already knew though :P.. I had Schroder pegged as a top-5 pick before the 2013 draft, when most everyone had him in the teens..

What about the ability to get layups in half-court offense?? .. Just check these highlights from last night

Oh, I'm with you. I'm a huge fan of Schroeder. And like I'd been saying this whole thread, I'd trade Exum for him. He's really special. Most people, however, have called me an idiot. The reservation seems to be Exum's elite measurements, and the potential they give him on both ends, compared to Schroeder's small size.

Edit: Oh I read your post too fast >< DOH.

Schroder is easily one of the quickest players in the league, at 6'2" in shoes with a 6'7" wingspan he's got a frame like a wiry Deron So he's really not that small. Relative to Exum, sure, but Exum's a giant PG.

I think Schroder and Exum could play quite well together, so I wouldn't be looking to swap them.

I will say --- The Hawks looked like they could really use Rodney Hood last night..

If Schroder is better than Teague why would Atlanta move Schroder? I just think they'd go the other way and it would take a godfather offer to get Dennis right now. Exum would have to be in it... I think they'd want Hood or Burks too. They'd need win now pieces to go with upside.

They have zero young talent outside of Dennis. They'd be dumb to move him unless they were getting way over value. No cap issues, so it's not like we could swoop in with a financial offer in two years that they couldn't match.

He looks really good though... making me a little sick to my stomach that we got Burke and not him.

Atlanta doesn't want him going anywhere. The risk with him is ego and impatience. You'll see this season. When he plays good he'll play 30 min and finish games. When he's got an off night he'll be more around 18-20 min.
But that may be not enough for him.(Look at Pau Gasol. He's 33 and still cranky when he isn't starting and finishing games)

Yeah... I think the quote regarding him starting was taken out of context. He basically said he's like to start at some point and said Atlanta has Jeff and he's a good player.

I don't see the demand for a trade coming and if I was Atlanta picking between the two I'd trade Teague before I moved Dennis. Especially if he is playing at a level where he is regularly pushing Teague for minutes. They may not have a great year and may be able to retool and get some young talent in. It will likely be Teague that is cranky and he can leave in two years if he wants. Atlanta controls Shroder whether he likes it or not.

Giving up Exum AND Hood/Burks would be complete insanity. Hell, I'd not give them Exum straight up. Schroder will never be the defender that Exum is, but Exum could easily become the offensive player Scroder is. If you are going to deal with Atlanta, you would be going after Teague.

I agree, but i think that's kind of what it would take. I wouldn't give up Hood for him straight up personally because I think he's good and a rare kind of player that we need.

Exum is just such a conundrum. His injury really complicates things... throws his timeline off by a year or two. Pretty much the worst time he could have sustained that injury too. We have no idea what we have there. He can't be judged next year imo because any player coming off a major knee injury needs a year. If we are lucky we will have an idea of what we have by his fourth year... just such a tough break for him and the franchise.

Exum's injury doesn't just change his timeline, it probably changes his ceiling. It's really such ****ing horse ****.

Let's just go back in time, draft Schroeder, keep Millsap and Carroll. Please.

This exactly .... I'd much rather go after Teague. I'd happily give them Burks / and or Burke and picks

I believe Schröder has the potential to become a pesky **** like Christina Paul.

The price might be too steep for Schroeder, but he does love Quin Snyder. Then again, Teague was an Allstar and helped get them to 60 wins. Could be too expensive for either.

Might have to wait until the situation is no longer tolerable. Schroeder's comments are a bit ambiguous, but it may give the Jazz a little leverage.

Atlanta has all the leverage here. Asking price will be insane.
