Devin Harris To Portland This Summer?

This is from Bill Ingram from Hoopsworld who covers the Trailblazers after someone asked him what is Portland going to do with the point guard position this year:

I've heard some discussion that the Blazers could acquire Devin Harris this summer, he makes a lot of sense for Portland, and no sense for the style of play the Jazz are accustomed to.

I would absolutely love it if the Jazz traded Devin Harris to Portland and somehow got Wes Matthews back in return, obviously it would take some more assets because the salaries don't match up.

If we drafted Knight and did this for Wes, that would be phenomenal. We'd still need a longer 3 and Singleton would make a ton of sense at 12 then.

I doubt we would be getting Wes either, maybe someone like Batum? I don't know why the would trade Wes with Roy's questionable health.

There could be some truth to this. The day the D-Will trade went down I remember hearing some reports that Devin Harris may have been headed to Portland via Utah but it didn't work out.

It would be a huge Coup for the Utah Jazz to get Wes Matthews back. KEK just mentioned how nice it would be to reacquire Matthews as well as picking Knight and Singleton. The thought of that exact scenario taking place makes me pee a little.

It can be assumed they would want to move Miller if they got Harris, and if we draft someone like Knight it would be wise to have a good veteran PG on the squad.

No way Portland lets Wes go. I bet they make this offer to the Jazz.

Sam Bowie,Greg Oden & Brandon Roy for Devin Harris and mini Bear.

Ahhh, the possibilities. We could have the whitest back-court in this history of the NBA since segregation was outlawed if we drafted Jimmer. Jimmer-Hayward-Babbit. Then we could add to that by drafting Kanter. We could start Jimmer-Hayward-Babbit-Kanter-Okur. The Irish/Scottish and Turkish line up of death.

Death of...Jazz playoff hopes?

In all seriousness though, I think Batum would be a great pick up. He is still pretty young and a good shooter/defender.

Miller and Batum for Harris according to trade machine improves Jazz to +15 wins while Portland goes to -13 wins.

I really like Harris but would do this trade in a heart beat. Miller is a great FT shooter, defender, great passer, great low post player and can rebound very well too for a guard. Then add Batum who is a good shooter, athletic and good defender. If a trade similar to this happened, and if KOC is confident Knight will fall to 6, why not trade down and get even more assets?

They just got Wallace though. Wouldn't that make Batum more expendable?

**** me, I forgot about him. I think Wes or Batum would have to be one of the odd men out then. They wouldn't trade Roy or Wallace.

I would do it for Miller only because if his option is picked up, it's the last year of his contract. That said, I'd want more than just cap relief. Miller and Batum for Harris would be a coup on our part. Or Miller and Wes for Harris and Bell would be great too.

Knight can sit under Miller and then take over at some point. Watson would be our 3rd pg.
Wes/Batum-Hayward along with (crossing fingers) Singleton at #12 would be strong, smart, defensive-minded young wings who can spread the floor, though Batum needs to improve some there.

Plus we'd be rid of Miller and Miles and Okur's contract at season's end. That's over 20M off the books.

Every trade deadline the biggest rumors floated around always involve Portland. I swear Portland leaks rumors before they have even finished the discussion with the opposing GM. Was Portland interested in Harris, I would guess yes. Did the Jazz ever even consider moving him to Portland? Who knows.

I think they'd for sure trade Roy if they could. There was an article this week saying Portland might try to get him to retire.

If I remember correctly, lots of teams have inquired about Batum, but Portland was never interested in moving him. And I don't see that changing just for Devin Harris.
However, bringing back Wes or Batum for Harris while drafting Knight would be an improvement in my opinion.
