What's new

Did we just pull another Raul Lopez?

Remember how good Brandon Jennings looked when he was a rookie? Everyone thought for sure he was the. Ext Allen iverson. Now he kind of sucks. Hopefully mcw can keep up more of his production than Jennings did.

I seem to remember you (Thriller) starting a thread about why the Jazz can't draft MCW because he was garbage.

Wait what?

Why couldn't the Jazz draft him with the 9th pick?

This is going to be stupid:

The Jazz had the Wolves on speed dial in case a certain amount of things happened leading up to the pick. So it wasn't the Jazz's pick, the Wolves picked for them. But, you're basically right, I think. Although it is possible that the Wolves just drafted Burke and them and the Jazz made contact in short order.

I don't think I've ever seen a player magically learn to shoot with confidence over the course of one off-season. FWIW, MCW didn't even look that good shooting the ball in draft workouts and summer league. Not sure where this shooting is coming from.

It's also worth noting that the Sixers are getting unprecedented performance out of Spencer Hawes and Evan Turner at the same time. Whatever they're doing is catching teams off guard and getting open looks. I think they're trying to play an up-tempo Suns style.

on a side note,
Thriller is a very good poster.
There is no reason to make it personal, u stupid dumbfu.k "insert nick"
:)

The Jazz did the right thing to move up to #9 and give themselves options. You can't blame them for that. The T'wolves aren't getting much out of Shabazz and Gorgui Dieng yet.

MCW couldn't even shoot 40% in College - any word on the success rate in NBA of the 21 year old (almost 22) College players with sub 40% shooting in NCAA? Yes, he is tearing it up now, but he was not exactly a slam dunk selection. Burke is a year younger and outplayed him in NCAA by quite a wide margin. Without crystal ball, this one would be pretty hard to predict on the draft night, so don't make it sound so obvious - it was not.
Great post. Although I do agree Jazz reached for an undersized PG. I'm not sure Burke was BPA. But when he slipped a bit, the Jazz got giddy and decided to make their move. In the end if Trey doesn't become a top-15 PG, at least the Jazz seem to have gotten the steal of the draft in Gobert.
