You are very right, but the Jazz definitely want Podz. They get a 3 million dollar for sure starting level guard for three years.
They can want him, but if they don't want him more than the Warriors he won't be in the trade.

The Jazz still want that dollar.
And that doesnt change that Utah wants him.....And? It doesn't change that the Warriors want him more.
That's the thing tho....the Jazz don't want to trade Lauri and Lauri doesn't want to be traded. This is truly a "you're going to have to come up with a great offer to force our hand"...The Jazz aren't actively trying to get rid of LauriThey can want him, but if they don't want him more than the Warriors he won't be in the trade.
Exactly, the Warriors are the ones with the onus to make it happen, not Utah. That's the thing tho....the Jazz don't want to trade Lauri and Lauri doesn't want to be traded. Which is why its Podz and the picks or peace out. That's the thing tho....the Jazz don't want to trade Lauri and Lauri doesn't want to be traded. This is truly a "you're going to have to come up with a great offer to force our hand"...The Jazz aren't actively trying to get rid of Lauri

I really have no idea what angle you are pushing here. It doesnt make sense and just because you are assigning fake values to things doesnt make it make sense.

The Jazz arent the buyer. They are the seller. The Warriors want him more than the Jazz, that means the Jazz won't pay the amount it costs to get him.The Warriors have some price that will get Podz, if the Jazz don't like him as much as the Warriors they will not meet that price. The Jazz have a price they will pay for Podz, if they do not like him as much as the Warriors it will not be enough for the Warriors. It's really not that hard to understand.

The price isn't set at some market amount though. The real measure here is do the Warriors like Podz and their picks more than Lauri? The Warriors want him more than the Jazz, that means the Jazz won't pay the amount it costs to get him.The Warriors have some price that will get Podz, if the Jazz don't like him as much as the Warriors they will not meet that price. I feel like I'm arguing with a sophomore economics major. The price isn't set at some market amount though. The real measure here is do the Warriors like Podz and their picks more than Lauri?

This. This thread is pretty pointless imo. Jazz won't trade Lauri this summer. The Warriors and Jazz are perfect opposites on this point too, but if they get Lauri and keep Kuminga, that puts them in absolute salary hell in a year. Even more value to the draft capital.
I don’t think the Warriors are stupid enough to do what it takes to do a deal with Danny at this juncture.
Who says something has to be subtracted. Who says there is even a pile of stuff that is agreed upon to subtract from. We have the player. We want him to stay. He wants to stay. Here is our price...If you think there cannot be enough value to the Jazz without Podz (which is what I think your stance is) that's one thing. It makes it difficult for another reason. But if not, putting Podz in the deal means subtracting something else. If Podz is worth more to the Warriors than the Jazz, the amount taken out of the deal will be too much for the Jazz to accept.
Ya that was a strange post. The Jazz arent the buyer. They are the seller.
