Correct.
The Rasmussen poll is the most commonly cited poll by trump. It typically has his approval in the mid to high 40s (the majority still disapprove).
While most far more reputable polls have his rating in the upper 30s low 40s. And that really hasn’t changed in nearly 2 years. His floor seems to be mid 30s while his ceiling is mid 40s.
This means that the majority disapprove while the 30-35 percent of his base will approve of him no matter what.
What has been creeping up is the “strongly disapprove.” It seems that the ranks of those who not only disapprove but strongly disapprove have been increasing. This matters since these are the people who will most likely vote against him and his followers. Trump is energizing the resistance rather than work to win them over.
These people are scattered throughout the country. This matters because all politics is local politics. Trump is ruining the republican brand and giving democrats a realistic shot to take control of local and national governments in the crucial years that the census is made. By 2020 you could see democrats in control of the house, senate, and many state legislatures and governor mansions.
For those of you seeking confirmation of this, look at the special elections. Democrats are +18 percentage pts in these. Look at how Beto O’Rouke is turning Texas blue.
@LogGrad98 when Beto beats Cruz and democrats retake the House, will you and your side admit that trump is toxic? Maybe we should have dozens and dozens of stories on “left behind” voters. You know, people who traditionally voted red but were turned off by Trumpism and have now become democrats. You like to bring up how democrats need to be sympathetic to trumpers and be more aware on how he won. I think your side needs to be more aware of the majority of voters, people who didn’t vote for trump. We’re a growing majority, not a shrinking minority. If the GOP hopes to avoid a political train wreck in the next few years, you’ll need to dump trump and reconnect with voters that the democrats are stealing away.
It’s time for your ilk to understand us.
