What's new

Donovan is pissed at some stupid Jazz Fans

It seems you didn't drink some tea.

"Taking sports so seriously" You do realize you are in a sports forum arguing passionately about not caring so much right? Average followers don't do that

"delusional and an insane jackass" Mmm, right. Have you taken a moment to read your comments? Are you like this in real life? Can you argue without insulting others?

My comments are not about supporting the boos but understanding others. Sports are really important for some people, almost like a religion (not kidding, watch Argentinian, Brazilian, Turkish or Italian soccer fans). Becoming emotionally involved is basically the whole point of following sports: celebrating, crying, etc. Some people become more involved than others, nothing wrong with that. You just don't get it.

Sports is entertainment, it's not politics or war. Some fans go way overboard.

He's right though.

But that's your opinion. Mine is that sports have a different meaning to people and that affects how they react and engage with other fans, players, etc. And that's fine. We shouldn't judge others for what makes them passionate (or even gives purpose in life). Could be sports, politics, religion, music, the environment etc.

It is entertainment...for some. For others it means more. And that's ok.

I remember attending some Manchester City games way back in the day when they sucked. I was surprised at how much the team meant to their followers and their reaction years later when they finally won a championship. Not to mention if you ever go to a stadium in South America...

****ing losers boo their own team. Simple as that.

Those are the kind of fans who trample their own people.

Stupid fans.

But fans have a right to. They paid for those tickets. But I’m not sure what fans expected. I always questioned how this team would score and win. This isn’t a talented team and they lack shooters and playmakers. It’s hard to set your defense when you’re constantly bricking shots or turning the ball over.

I get that. And maybe getting booed will snap Rodney out of his slump. He can either fight against the boos or go into a depression about it. But I will totally judge someone on booing a player on their own team who is going through a tough time. Rodney has always been a standup dude and doesn't deserve boos.

Sure. Things are always simple as that. Left vs right, Evil vs Good, Right vs Wrong, Democrat or Republican, Smart fans vs Stupid fans, Booing vs No Booing.

Under what scenario do you think it's ok to boo your own team?

You are in your own right of judging others. That's ok. I prefer to ask myself why would they do it.

Personally, and I've been clear about it (if you read my previous posts), don't support Hood being booed. He doesn't deserve it. But I don't go as far as calling the ones who did stupid or "human garbage". That's uncalled for.

If you paid for the ticket, do as you please as long as its legal and not harming anyone else. It's your right as a paying customer. Is it right? Not in my opinion, but it's not my call on how you wish to express your displeasure. Is it classless? Probably in my opinion, but that's my opinion, not a written bylaw of being a fan.
This is just a pastime, true, but if there is no emotion involved you had better start looking for a different team, because passive fans aren't going to continue to buy tickets, apparel and other merchandise to keep it sustainable here.

Good fans don’t boo their own players unless it’s a D-bag like Cousins or Rondo and they truly deserve it. Even then, I wouldn’t boo either of those guys if they were on the Jazz.

I called them losers, and I stand by that. And I understand the reasoning behind booing but it's lame and I will judge people based on their actions.

When they show absolutely no heart in a game, don't even try. Boing is pretty common in soccer. In basketball you expect no-shows as a result of a grueling 82-game schedule so it's more unlikely. But I would expect it if a teams plays like trash for an extended period of time (and having the talent to overcome it).

Cultural differences also matter. The sport being played too.

Other reasons: malicious actions, unsportsmanlike conduct.

How about you weirdos who are defending the booing stop taking sports so seriously?

You do realize its a meaningless game that you are not even playing right?

Says the guy with over 17K posts in 5 years.

I dont care how much you paid for your tickets, or how tough you think you are. You are a delusional and an insane jackass. It comes off as uber pathetic. Your only take away from a basketball game should be the impressive things the players can do on both sides, and just enjoy the game. Realistic expectations should be that that sometimes a player will have off games. It happens to even the very best. If you are emotionally involved at all, and it makes you mad that the player isnt playing as good as you want them too, then its you who has the problem. You dont think the player wants to play well? You think your booing is going to help in anyway? Would you boo your own son if that were him out there? Probably not. You'd probably have a whole different perspective on it. But since its not who gives a crap about that person. Right?

Dont cry when players arent loyal either. They know the truth. Fans are fake with their fake love, and are mostly pathetic delusional retards with no talent of their own.

Now go put on another mans jersey and cry like a little girl when the ball doesnt go in the hole. Whaa!

Classic jock sniffer mentality. You were probably on the Spirit Squad in HS and still collect autographs.

My problem was with Gas referring those fans as 'human garbage' and talking about being cool and all, when he is losing his **** on a sports forum.

Feel free to judge, it's alright. As it is the right of some fans to boo. As lame (or stupid) as it looks. Again, I don't think Hood or the team deserve it
