Donovan Mitchell All Star Weekend Thread

I like showing up to people's birthday parties and telling them how boring they are.

When my friend earned her PhD I made sure to tweet after the graduation ceremony how weak the class of '17 was.

When my daughter shows me a picture she colored I like to tell it like it is, "looks like a five-year-old drew that. Unimpressive."

He doesnt have responsibilities. He doesnt work for the Jazz anymore. He last worked for the Suns. The Jazz havent wanted him around for a while, he doesnt have to schmooze up to the new rookie.

He doesn't have to do anything. So what? Anyone can make themselves look like an *** if they want. And sometimes they'll get criticized for it.

Equating sporting events or competitions to birthday parties is poor at best. There are many sporting competitions and sporting events that have been boring and there will be many more.

Your second point is even worse. Things should be judged accordingly. Your daughter is 5, you shouldn't tell her drawings suck. NBA players are professional athletes and some of the most athletic people in the world. They will be judged accordingly, guy...

Someone posted their opinion on a subjective dunk competition so my opinion is now lower of that person and I'll keep name calling him to get my point across, you know, cause this is class.

Lol. Ok bro. Someone posted their opinion on a tweet someone posted about a subjective dunk competition so my opinion is now lower of that person and I'll keep name calling him to get my point across, you know, cause this is class.

Lastly, I think it says more about a person, in a negative way, to say your opinion is lower of someone because they said the dunk contest was boring than the person saying it was boring.

That's pretty damn petty to think less of someone. I bet you're a riot to get along with in your family.

Huh. Sounds pretty PC, the way you think we should treat little kids. Snowflake.

Tell me more about my family and personal life, Archie Moses.

I don't know your family. What I do know is you think less of people who say they thought the dunk contest was boring. Using what I know, I can theorize and or bet you're a riot to get a long with. Fair?

To each their own. My daughter’s biggest flaw (other than being a bratty **** sometimes) is not eating her dinner because she doesn’t like it.

Last night it took her almost an hour to eat about 60% of it and only that after much coercing. At the end, she happily goes, “Daddy, you’re so proud of me.”

My response? “No, I’m not proud of you. It shouldn’t take you three times as long as your baby brother to eat dinner, and you didn’t eat it all.”

The truth hurts. And is often needed. Even for 3 year olds.

How many times do I have to explain that I'm not talking about people in general? I'm talking about a particular former member of the team who has, in times past, served as an ambassador of sorts, and is seen by many fans as being part of the "Jazz family."

Memo attended an all-star game once. The game was pretty weak, as always. But it was still fun to see Jazz represented there.

For the record, I think the dunk contest, overall, was underwhelming. But it was fun to see our guy out there loving it. And there were some great moments.

And if you feel good speculating about people's personal lives on a sports message board, I guess your whole family probably hates your guts.

I think telling people and kids how it is, is the best thing they can do in most cases. That's how I try and parent my six-year-old in most cases. However, telling a five-year-old their art sucks is different for me.

Dude, Donovan Mitchell and the 3 other dunk contest participants are neither Okur's friends or children.

And it's not like his comment was classless and offensive anyway. We have such a cultural mindset now that is something is said online that isn't positive then it's automatically wrong, offensive, and triggers the SJWs.

My brother just came over to my house so we could put in for some hunts here in Utah (dare I even say that?) and I asked him about the dunk contest and if he watched it. He said it was boring and turned it off before he went to bed. Mind you, he's been a Jazz fan his whole life and a season ticket holder. I understand that Mitchell is the Jazz's future and I've personally have never been this excited about a Jazz rookie/player or seen our fan base so excited about a player in my life but saying the dunk contest wasn't that great or boring, to me, isn't ******** on Mitchell or being a Debbie Downer. It just means we've seen better ones. Like someone said on here and I think nailed it, the great dunk contests are the exception to the rule. They don't happen every year and when they do, we tend to remember them years/decades later.

Another reason why I think the dunk contests are less exciting is because there are literally professional dunkers and tons of videos online that show guys doing dunks that very, very few NBA players could do unless they devoted their full time and attention to jumping and dunking. It's tainted it the dunk contest, but they are still fun to watch.

My favorite part about the dunk contest last night was Mitchell putting down his first dunk with ease and he did it earlier than I thought he would. I wasn't ready at the time and when it went in I got to my feet and cheered. It was the perfect dunk that was both safe and exciting to do in the first round. My second favorite part to the contest was Mitchell rocking the retro uniform. Damn those are sexy. Lastly, my least favorite part was when Mitchell took his jersey off to reveal Carter's. To me, it should be taboo to wear Carter's jersey in the dunk contest and to replicate one of the dunks from arguably the best dunk contest ever. You're never going to win in those circumstances. I also should note I enjoyed when Mitchell jumped over the three children. There's a pic online of that dunk that's down right special and bad ***.

That’s an awesome photo. God damn

It was just a figure of speech to get a point across. If what I said offended you or you felt like it was too personal, I apologize. Again, I don't know two cents about your family. I just know you think less of someone, by 50%, because they said they thought the dunk contest was boring.

Can't imagine what you'd think about someone if they told you your socks stink, you don't put your dishes in the dishwasher or spend too much time posting on jazzfanz.

Oh. I thought they were literally equivalent. I wasn't drawing analogies to identify problems the simplistic concept of "telling it like it is" without regard to context. Thanks for your help, Cy.
