Donovan Mitchell NASTY Jazz Debut Highlights vs Spurs (2017.07.03) Summer League - 23 Pts, 5 Ast!

my favorite mitchell play of the night happened at the 1 minute mark of that video when he drove on Dejounte and just brushed him aside like he wasn't even there.

He reminds me of Joe Dumars. For you young kids, Dumars was a basketball player.
I like the comp. Dumars wished he was that athletic doe

He looked good. Nothing special imo and I'm sure I'll be ripped for saying such. He did finish well and I remember that being one of his weaknesses. And he seemed to be smart on the court (no turnovers too) and have a sweet stroke but I was never close to wowed or anything. But I am very happy considering it was his first summer league game.

Regarding, Exum, meh. His first quarter was statistically great and then he dipped a little. I'm not sure his handle or shot looks any better than it did late last year. I'll try to withhold judgment til seeing more summer games and also regular season but at this point, based on yesterday (and Lindsey saying how much he's improved), I just don't see him being anything special. Perhaps his shot will fall more though and he'll hit 37% from three on decent volume or something.

But you are right on Exum imo. He looks like a 6th man/backup at best.

I really had big expectations for him, especially after Lindsey's comments a week ago. But he looks like more of 6th-8th guy. Obviously I want to see more, and if his corner three falls, then his dribble drive game could really open up, and given some defensive upside, he could be a very valuable overall player...but as of now, and I think you've said this, I see him as more of a 2, not a point (though he may back up Rubio), and like he'll never be anything special and I would strongly consider packaging him in a deal.

Yeah, I mean I think he can be a really valuable backup (or a decent starting 2), but I just dont see him as a starting PG, which is what I'm sure he envisions himself as.

I also am annoyed that Exum's body hasn't improved at all. We see what Gordo has done year over year and how you can improve your body and game. And then there's Exum, the supposed Kobe mentality when drafted. Give me a break.

Ita hasn't been that much since the season ended.

No doubt in my mind that this kid would compete for rookie of the year if given the minutes. Probably the most promising pick we've had since Wayward or Malone and I don't recall them coming out of the gate nearly this quickly. If Wayward decides to walk this takes a good deal of the sting out of it , for me anyways.
