Jazz don't need Exum to be a starter now. They have Rubio. What the Jazz need from Exum is to a be solid bench player who leads the second team.
Everyone had this high expectation for the kid when he was picked 5th. Perhaps it was too high especially considering his inexperience. Did anyone just think he was going to walk on the court and become the next Kobe? Blowing out his ACL, didn't help his development. Exum just needs to play. People need to remember patience with him. Lower your expectations. Look for the positive. Pretend he was drafted 15th. There were plenty of them in his first game this year.
Both financially and developmentally, It will be to the Jazz advantage if Exum takes a few more years to be a starter. If he can play 25 minutes a game average 10-12 points and provide defense and leadership to the second unit it will be a sucessful year. I agree with some comments about him not being a PG but let's give him full year to find out.
Beside the fact it looks like both Donovan and Exum can share the PG on the second unit.
