What's new

Doufos is gone

This deal just keeps getting better!

OK, I loved BOOM BITCHES! as much as anyone. During game 6, I was at Skybox and when KK made his one shot, I jumped up and yelled it.
I don't think anyone knew what I was doing. But it was great. I loved it even more when Fes said it in the lockerroom during Boozer's interview

But other than that, KK was worthless. Having Minny take him off our hands? I just called and told my brother and he started laughing.

I think by trading Koufos it puts us right at, or just a bit under, the luxury tax threshhold no?

Edit: looking closer, I don't think it does, still over by a bit. Take that$61,042,357 figure, add $13 mil for Al and you get to $74,042,357, subtract Koufos' $1,298,640 and we're at $72,743,717, then subtract the qualifying offers to Fes and Matthews ($1,087,500 and $937,195, respectively)... and i come to $70,719,022, $412,022 over the threshhold.

Not counting Gaines/Fes I think we're a few 100k over, but you're right, we're right on the threshold. Once we fill out the roster we're going to be paying it anyway this year, but moving Koufos atleast gets us closer.

No, no, I know about what Doof said, but you referenced Fes saying something in a post game interview...

Probably close. Does anyone think shedding Koufos might be a move in advance of matching for Matthews. Gail was livid when Portland tried to steal Millsap from us. Maybe she and Greg are willing to be exceed the limit this season. At last report, Matthews' offer is actually $32.5M. The signing bonus, of course, is amortized over the 5 years for cap purposes. So maybe the first year hit is around $6M.

I really hope not. But I think it's more because Koufos was a terrible player.

Honestly I think it has more to do with resigning Fes than Mathews. Per Ross Siler the initial cap hit is $5.765, but like Millsap, w/the bonus Wes is due a large amt up front ($9.14 mil). Ultimately, it will come down to how good of a player the Jazz view Wes being, and unless it's more than a solid-role player I don't think we'll match.

Dont let vslice hear you say that...dude'll go off.
Actually I agree with Thriller, Koufos did suck last year. I only responded when you said I was lying about Koufos having a nice touch around the basket, but I digress. To paraphrase your own dialect, let it go bro.

Also, just heard KOC on 1320kfan. He mentioned the arrival of Jefferson gives Utah a solid 3-man rotation upfront. Don't want to read to much into it, but I suppose it's possible Fes isn't in their longterm plans and we'll be seeing a bigman rotation similar to last year's (possibly w/Okur off the bench?). Still early, but I found that interesting.
