DWill is About to Get a Buddy...

New Orleans woulda done OK, not great. Lakers would've gotten an all-star for 2 formerly-great but clearly declining big men. Houston was getting the shaft; how could they be so blind??

Agree with the Houston part. Gave up a lot for Gasol. Whose First round draft pick was being given to New Orleans?

Howard's camp is saying this to fool Stern into thinking there was no trade for him to go to LA. Howard has always wanted to go to LA. Funny how the Nets have heard nothing from Howard's camp.

Dwill, Hump, Howard, AK off the bench, would be nasty. I think we might be seeing the end of the NBA as we know it. It seems like we are moving in on the era of the super team.

Link???? Dwill and Howard have talked a lot.

I think Humphries last year was a combination of two things:

1) The David Lee affect, whereby the single guy on the team plays with any tenacity goes on a hot streak, has less people to compete with minutes for, offense opens up for him because of roster change (Deron)
2) Contract year

Stay AWAY from Humphries.

This.

There are a dozen threads about moving Sap or AJ (both solidly better all-around than Humphries) so we have more PT for our new bigs, but now we are discussing bringing in a big with a limited game after a flash-in-the-pan season to, do what exactly? Get lots of rebounds? Oh and eat up PT for our developing bigs. The idea of Humphries coming here needs to die a fast and incredibly painful death.

They are right across from NYC now and will be in Brooklyn after next season. Clearly a big market team.

True, but they will always be little brother to The Knicks. Trust me, I live in that area.

When you think of The Clippers do you automatically think big market team like The Lakers? Probably not - and they play in the same frickin arena.

My point is, The Paul deal is all about perception. It makes The NBA look like they're calling themselves on their own ********.

Looks like NJ's been tampering and got busted.

This could unravel every single thing they've been working for. Besides swinging in and straight up being able to grab picks, they could likely nix any potential Dwight deal from happening even if both sides agree.

This would be absolutely massive.

It would also mean Deron's gone. There goes 10 years.

The Howard deal is different - The Nets have sucked forever. NJ is not considered a big market team. If a deal is there I think it definitely happens.

Well, I'm mostly concerned that the Lakers could still be in play due to the Paul trade being nixed. And I think the main reason that happened has more to do with the owners owning the Hornets. Anyway, I hope it happens, but there is this.

This could massively suck. It could take the Magic's best trade-option off the table, and the league doesn't have a conflict of interest w/Orlando - so what if LA swoops in and makes the rescinded offer (or a similar one) w/Orlando and gets the one player nobody wants them to.

Deron couldn't recruit a buddy to play with him in Utah, but he can convince them to go to New Joisey?
Even more than the bigmarket/small market comparisons, the Utah Jazz w/Deron were never in a position cap-wise where they could realistically sign another star-player.

My fear as well.

I love this lesser of two evils NBA utopia that the owners have fought so hard for.

There wasn't even a honeymoon period. Things just went right back to being ****ed up.

I don't see the infraction as being so grave it would prevent a deal. And since Howard being traded is inevitable, I would love for him to play alongside Deron. Just stack the whole East for that matter and get Paul to NYC.

Unless Humphries is involved via s&t, I don't see how they can also take back Hedo??

How about we help DWill by sending ORL Jefferson!
https://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=c5klxqs

ORL 5 = Nelson / QRich / Hedu / Big Al / Lopez (Baby / Bell / Anderson / Duhon / Orton / Harper / Liggins)
NJ 5 = DWill / Morrow / AK? / Kris? / D12 (Brooks / Farmar / Williams / Graham / Bogdanovic / Petro) - Outlaw is amnestied
UTH 5 = Harris / Hayward / CJ / Millsap / Memo (JJ / Favors / Burks / Watson / Kanter / Evans / Tinsley)

Where NJ sends ORL the better of their future #1 & UTH the other #1

According to Dwight Howard's agent Dan Fegan, the Magic gave their permission to have contact three teams, the Lakers, Nets and Mavericks to explore his options.

Howard is eligible to become a free agent in 2012 and was appearing increasingly unlikely to sign with the franchise in the long-term.

While Howard will have no shortage of suitors, the Nets and Lakers have been considered the favorites to acquire him.

The Nets were one team Howard was given permission to be in communication with. Howard was not present for a Thursday meeting with Mikhail Prokhorov and Billy King.

No doubt the Lakers are still trying to get their filthy mitts on him.
