Because I thought this needed it's own thread. Lillard looks great at scoring but seems to not be a great passer or defender.

He just doesn't excite me, I highly highly doubt he will end up better than Devin Harris. If we can get him in the late lottery I would be ok with it, but if we trade up to the top 10 to get him I won't be nearly as excited.

Lillard is who I want, with any pick we are able to get. From everything I've heard he is a knockdown 3pt shooter in drills and has excellent length (6'8 wingspan) and athletic ability. He is the shooter we need and gives our team some speed and quickness, which is kind of lacking in the backcourt when Hayward is your SG.

Not saying I would be mad if we took him, I'm just not as convinced as some others on this board that he will be a long term solution at PG. I would rather have the best available talent if we trade up to the top 10, anything after that I would be totally fine with Lillard.

Think we would have to get the Blazers pick for us to have a chance at him. Wish we could get him.

The best available talent will undoubtedly be a PF. I'm all in favor of adding another big, just to bolster us for the future when whoever remains between Millsap or Jefferson (assuming one is traded) leaves for FA if we can't resign them, but I think we have to look at need too, because we are really too stacked at big to be considering adding another top 10 pick PF (I think we would add one later in the draft though). We need a shooter and a future PG, I think Lillard adds that. He might not be great in the passing department, but he is probably at least on par with Harris as a pure passer.

Sure he can shoot, but if we draft him, we may be complaining 2 years from now that we don't have a pg to run the offense. If Favors is to be our franchise player he needs to be killing other teams in pick'n roll and slashing to the hoop rather then going one on one in post up, like Al and Millsap did this year.

If we draft Marshall we may be complaining in two years that we don't have enough perimeter shooting or someone who can guard other top PG's.

I think taking a chance on Lillard is the best move.

Do we really want our pg of the next 5-6 years being a so so distributer. If I thought Lillard was going to be a star, then I'd agree with ya.

What else is there? Not everyone can have a great passing PG. With Lillard you have a chance at a pretty athletic PG who is also capable of being a great shooter.

Marshall is the kind of pg that knows what pass to make at all times, which will make our pick'n roll better more slashing plays for Favors (his strength), and make our outside shooters better. I also am confident we will find a shooter or two in the coming years. If we can't get Marshall, then I'd rather wait and find a better passer then Lillard to take our place.

Sadly this arguement is pointless if we don't geta mid to late lotto pick.

For once I agree with Cy, I think Lillard is the best option. Lowry and Holiday weren't great passers coming out of college but I would rather have them than Harris not to mention Lowry is putting up ridiculous assist numbers now. Lillard can develop a passing game, he just didn't have any reason to develop it in college.

He could also use his speed to get into the lane and dish out the rock similar to Tony Parker. Burks and Hayward are good playmakers and passers. While it would be nice to have a pass first PG, we don't necessarily need a pass first PG

If Corbin changes the offense or trades Favors and Al for wings I'll agree with that, but with our strength being the bigs and getting points in the paint, we need a pg that can get easier shots for the bigs rather then taking shots away from them. If Hayward can show some consistency from outside to start the year, and not just in the month of May, shooting will not be that big of a problem, as I think we could always find one more shooter or two else where.

Having more shooters opens up more space down low for our bigs to go to work. How can we run the pick and roll when every team we play against is running a 2-3 zone because we have no one who can spread the floor...Doesn't work

Pick'n roll is a great way to open up for the shooters. There are better ways to play offense then one on one play. We need more motion and movement. Just from watching games the opposition always were able to get wide open three after wide open three where they had time to gather themselves set square up, and set their feet, where as the jazz could get open looks, but had to get them off quick and rush the shot. A better offense will get better looks improving our shooting. Pick up a shooter or two in the draft and freeagentcy and our shooting is fine.
