DX Video on Damian Lillard

He is a guy who might be the worst shooter in the league who has creatively discovered a way to use it to his advantage.

I hope your right. Because right now, to me he's unproven, and played in a league with inferior talent. He was the best player by far, and he couldn't win the league. It will be a risk for any team to pick him between 6-12 range. I'm not saying he shouldn't be picked in that range, but there are more proven talent in that range.

Which says Lillard won't be an All-star but doesn't mean he could be a really, really good starting PG with deadly shooting range.

Lillards game is built for the pick and roll. His game translates perfectly IMO, as he has shown immense ability to shoot off the dribble, as well as drive to the cup, and having watched him play for the last few years, I know he can pass. Not to marshalls extent, but he is an able facilitator. Pair that with Hayward and you have all the play making you (IMO we need a guy who can break down the d and get into the lane consistently, either drawing contact (which he does A LOT, ) or kicking out to shooters which I have seen him do countless times to just see his teammates brick away.

Not to mention the guy has shown the ability top be a lock down defender at the end of close games, is long and athletic, has a killer work ethic, great shooting range from everywhere on the court, humble personality, and loves living in Utah, as well has having openly stated to media that he would enjoy playing for the jazz.

Like I said earlier I hope your right and I'm wrong, but your missing my point. Running the pick'n roll or playing great defense is one thing in the Big Sky conference. It's nothing compared to the likes of the ACC or Big Ten, and they are nothing compared to the NBA. All I'm saying is he's more of a risk then other players expected to go in the same range as Lillard.

I don't think we really understand or can prove he's as good talent wise as some of these other prospects.

Please don't dismiss his skills and athleticism because of the conference he played in. It's not like the ACC's 3 point line is farther out than the Big Sky's.

I get what you're saying about competition. Which is why we might need to overlook some of his big scoring games. But I don't think we should dismiss that the kid has some good ballhandling skills, outstanding shooting range, and very good size and athleticism. I think for the most part you can tell what a kid's strengths and weaknesses are no matter the competition. It wasn't like Jimmer was playing lockdown defense and blowing past guys with isos in college. The exact same weaknesses he had playing in the MWC are getting him in the NBA. It probably doesn't help that he went to one of the worst franchises in the NBA either. That Sactown offense this year was probably the worst organized offense I've ever seen.

Not saying he doesn't have skills. I know that the distance from the three point line is the same from big sky to ACC, but I bet the amount of open looks in the big sky is a lot more then in the ACC.

Lillard is the most athletic in the big sky. In the NBA he won't be. He won't have the open looks he had in collage. We all know that in the NBA the players are bigger stronger and faster. All I'm saying is his adjustment period from collage to the pro's will be tougher do to the lack of talent in the big sky. So yes he's a bit more risky of a pick then others.

While the majority of the Big Sky was garbage, I believe it was Montana that had a really good defensive PG (Will Cherry) along with a lot of size on their front court (two 7 footers), so I would imagine scouts are watching Weber's games vs. Montana very closely.

Hi! ;)

Part of me still really wants Marshall too. I would be happy with either one to be honest.

This. I think Marshall is by far the safest bet while Lillard has the higher ceiling. Depends on the team .. I mean, who do you think would be a better fit for the Spurs?

There have been a lot of players that have come from the little conference's that have been very good NBA players. LA Tech, (Malone, Millsap). But Also Scottie Pippen played at a little collage. There are guys out there that have the ability to play at the highest levels of the NBA that didn't go to a big named collage/Conference.

I'm not really trying to discount him in any way, just that he is a risk, and is unproven coming from a small conference. All the skills in the world doesn't make someone successful. It's that plus what's upstairs if ya know what I mean.
