well see this is how we do it where I live

all the students of a grade line up and then count off by however many number of teachers there are for their grade - like if it's third grade and there are three third grade teachers then all the students count off by threes and all the 1's go to teacher 1, the 2's go to teacher 2 and the 3's to teacher 3

One year they tried to do it where the students picked their teacher but that didn't work well because one teacher ended up teaching an empty classroom. The taxpayers weren't too happy about that.
