El Paso Shooting

It’s done it pretty terrible taste and horribly timed. I’m not into horror movies. This one in particular sounds pretty terrible. I don’t think it accomplished anything good.

But let’s not go overboard here.

Do you think violent movies have a greater impact in motivating these shooters than easy access to guns? Or the nonstop xenophobic vitriol they consume from Fox News and the president?
I think it all plays a roll. I think our political climate plays a bigger roll more than anything. That's both sides of the spectrum. We truthfully hate each other over dumb *** politicians that are more worried about their egos and self worth. We're constantly down each other's throats and finger pointing.

As far as movies and games. It doesn't cause anybody to do anything but it does desensitize the human brain and make the act of killing someone adventurous. I think the NZ shooter first personed himself for that very reason.

Edit this was written in haste so my apologies if it's a little off.

We don't hate each other over dumb-*** politicians so much as we hate each other over Trump. Trump is incredibly bad for our society and it's time for everyone from all political persuasions to stand up to those who defend Trump, using no uncertain terms. This is not your fathers or grandfathers Republican party we're talking about, this is the Trump party.

Why did they pull their trailers? That was their decision. ESPN is pretty liberal and they won't play the trailers either.

It's common sense why.
Too soon after some mass shooting murders would be my guess

This is me.
I have no hate at all for republicans, Democrats, conservatives, or liberals as a group. I tend to hate individuals for their individual actions.
I hate Trump.
Pretty simple

Movie execs reportedly pulled ads for a horror film where US elites hunt 'deplorables' for sport after the shootings in El Paso and Dayton

What's your opinion on this thriller and Nazi caller?

I just watched the trailer and it looks OK to me.

I'm not big into horror movies, or overly violent movies so it's not my cup of tea.

That said, this idea isn't original. It's like the Hunger Games, the prisoner movie and another one I can think of.

Kind of reminds me of the Purge movies a bit too.

Yeah personally I couldn't really care less besides as I said if it was the other way around people would be equally flipping.

Also made by Blumhouse I think - I’m pretty sure one of them suggested the Purge was a way to deal with poor people instead of “crime”.

I thought those movies were trash and the Hunt looks that way also. That’s a personal opinion that has nothing to do with the political commentary of the movie. My guess is that they’ll go back and tone it down in editing before it ever hits theaters.

The Most Dangerous Game is actually a great story and will continue to be re-imagined because of that. There’s also real life instances of this happening (see also, Robert Hansen and the Alaska Murders).

Yeah I didn't enjoy the Purge either (I only saw the first one). This kind of movie has definitely been done before, and isn't really my cup of tea. If The Hunt ends up being a clever satire of the current state of America then maybe I'll catch it on Netflix eventually, otherwise I'm not all that interested.

Regarding the raids in the south, are we arresting the wrong people? If you jail and heavily fine the plant managers and CEOs, the two income families with the illegal nanny, the dude with a 5 acre property who hires illegal immigrants to take care of their pool and their ground. Put them all in jail, separate them from their children. Then you would have a amazing pressure to put in place a enact a sensible immigration policy. Because rich white dudes with political clout and their beautiful blonde children would be paying the price.

Even if you believe we should be deporting the illegal immigrants, why not also arrest the people hiring them? The rich are driven by profitability and the poor immigrants are driven by feeding their families. Both are wrong, why do we just jail the brown people?

Probably because they're not donating millions of dollars to the politicians that write our laws and run these agencies.

Let's be clear: antifa organizes for the 'violent' throwing of milkshakes and water. The Proud Boys (and similar right-wing groups) organize and train to use their fists and other weapons on people. If you believe both of these actions are equally wrong, I won't try to persuade you otherwise. However, to claim that it is hypocritical to day these actions are of a different character is ludicrous.
We’ll just have to disagree about the level of violence they’re willing to engage in. Antifa has done a lot more than just throw milkshakes and water. They cover their faces for a reason.

They frequently commit crimes when they’re protesting. It’s not uncommon for them to use “makeshift” weapons, pepper spray and to be the ones initiating the violence. They attacked Andy Ngo because they don’t like him. He didn’t do anything to deserve that, other than be there. And if you think it’s okay to physically attack him because of his reporting on them - you’re the fascist and the Nazi. To say that it’s only the right is hyperbole.

That guy who died trying to firebomb the ICE facility was the tip of the iceberg. There will be more violence attributed to them. If it’s wrong for one side, it’s wrong for both. That’s the nice thing about being an independent voter. I don’t feel like I have to justify ****** behavior from either side.

Fairly certain that the people running the plants are in trouble as well. . .
