Jazz can never turn down the chance of drafting a center. Embiid has the potential to be one of the best bigs in the league. Just can't see them turning that down.

I watched numerous videos of Exum and even if they say he is "extremely quick" I have not seen a single episode/play where his speed would be anywhere close to NBA speed. Keep in mind he is playing vs very weak competition here so he may look quick, but it is just illusion. He has long stride which helps him with first step vs these slow guys here, but in NBA he would be negated very easily. And on defense his lateral quickness is average at best. Hope he proves me wrong but I just don't see it in him.

I think a lot of people underrate Exum due to not seeing him play against competition and so on, but as good as scouts think he could be, Embiid's ceiling is even higher.

I take Embiid if his back checks out. He's someone you could potentially build an offense AND defense around. Guys like that don't come around often.

Jazz already have Favors, Kanter and Gobert. They will need help on the wing next year.

Who cares what the Jazz need next year. Pick the player that will be the better player 3-4 years from now. Blazers already had Drexler so they didn't need Jordan... In the draft, you take the best player regardless of position, especially early.

Get your common sense outta here.

As the Blazers brass once said, "We need a center so we have to take Sam Bowie." To this, Bobby Knight Responded by saying "Draft Jordan and have him play center."

You may be right and I fully recognize that, but if Exum tears it up and has elite lvl quickness in the pros, I will never let you forget it. haha :)

Embiid > Gordon > Randle > Exum

Jazz need defense, the first 2 provide that. The Kanter/Favors front court improves dramatically on Defense of you put Gordon 1 and Gordon 2 out there in front of them. Favors playing PF to Embiid as Center is just sick defensively. You could then get more space to free up Hayward and Burks for open shots as Embiid will eventually demand a double team.

I agree with your gordon comments, and with your defense comments for embiid and favors, but not so sure about the spacing just yet. Favors and embiid play pretty close to the rim. Kanter already demands doubles and some triples, but yet spacing isn't that great because Favors hangs around too close clogging up the lane so when Kanter resets all that is open is a 3 ball for Hayward, Trey, or Alec (somewhat works with RJ), but none of those guys can hit the 3 (hayward used to be able to). If our wings could shoot, then I'd agree with you, but since they can't, I'm waiting for those Kanter 3 balls to provide spacing and driving lanes for Burks and Hayward.

The Favors / Kanter pairing hasn't worked as well as I thought they would this year.

Because of that, let's go get our next Hibbert/Duncan/Hakeem in Embiid.

When was it really given a chance? It's been working as of late.

I want to see more w/ adequate perimeter defense. Throw A. Gordon in at the 3 next to Hayward, and I think Kanter looks an all-star.

I agree with everything except when you say that Kanter would look like an All-star. I call bushwa.

Agree to disagree. W/ adequate perimeter defense, there is a lot less leakage, thus keeping kanter loose and the media/fans off his back. Loose kanter = beast offensive Kanter.within 2 years of playing loose, and seafood, sculpting, P3, Malone, Memo influenced offseasons, and I see Kanter as "looking" like an all star.

How does that improve his putrid man to man defense?

No worse than griffin, love, boozer, aldridge, dirk, even Malone.

Offensively gifted PF's are usually really bad at guarding each other. Surround them w/ good defenders and you're fine.

Also, enes is nowhere near as bad as people think he is. Favors is only .13 points per game allowed better then enes. That's 1 point every 10 games per David Locke on tip off this morning. I personally haven't looked this up today because I've been busy, but it sounds pretty similar to what I saw from my own research earlier this year.

Enes gets blamed for a lot of ****. Our team sucks defensively.
