Had surgery on foot today and so much for summer league or training camp. Perhaps the Jazz can take him with the 23rd pick.

They say 4-6 months.
Won't be back until after Christmas, then it will be pushed to the all-star break. Then whichever team drafts him will say they're going to be very conservative with his recovery and he won't see NBA game time action at all. On a positive note, the year off will do wonders for his back.

Would be a fantastic pick for the Lakers. They're not going anywhere next year. Nash can keep Embiid company in the MASH wing at the Staples Center.

Game changer at the top of the draft. Cavs need to win now or face a total rebuild.
That's my feeling.
Lebron has been very wishy-washy, with reports saying he's upset about Arison's lack of spending this past season to better defend the title. So the Cavs likely smell blood. This is their chance to show LBJ they have a team in place to contend. Irving has been promised the MAX and I think it was going to be a good sale to present Embiid as a bright prospect at the 5. Now the injury has changed all that. They need a healthy center and the best one available for sale is Favors.

I like Derrick. But as many have said, he just doesn't have any fire. He didn't show any evidence of being a defensive "stopper" and his offense is just ok. Favors + #5 is pricey for the #1, but it gets the Jazz a potential franchise player and #1 option (whether that is Wiggins or Parker). Jazz should do it. But man, if Dennis takes Wiggins and he isn't >>> Parker, Lindsey will need to enter the witness protection program.

Can't even get up for someone who KILLED A LION........ I wasn't even asleep while they were doing the surgery #alien #WAFA #NBA #Supernatural

- Joel Embiid

Embiid claims, as a kid he killed a Lion with his bare hands for his tribe as a passage of manhood, then dragged it back to the village.

Hes lying but I guess its a cool story.

Lions weigh between 300-500 lbs, Joel Embiid did not drag a lion when he was a kid. He's lion
He never claimed he killed an adult lion, did he?

Just listened to a Doc on 1280 talk about this specific injury.....might have to recant.

I'm thinking you don't take him til everyone that has a decent chance at being an all star is off the board. So take him around 8ish

You take him if you're a GM for a franchise that can attract FA's. If he never plays, no biggie...you just go out and buy a replacement. He'd be a great pick for the Lakers at #7.

I think there's better odds of finding a future all-star in the 2nd round than Embiid recovering from this injury.
