Enes Kanter hasn't helped his draft stock

Rust factor ... what a joke. The guy is 18 or 19 years old. Tell me you were a rusty athlete when you were that age, especially when you were playing every day and had what was his body fat percentage, something ridiculously low for a guy his size.

I'd listen to what Calipari said about him. If anyone knows about Kanter, it would be him. And why would Calipari lie about it, what would be his motive?

To show players that he will help them get drafted.

To show players that he will help them get drafted.

And he will show up on draft day to see them get drafted...i'm not saying that as a bad thing, that's pretty smart move by him to promote his players, future recruits see him on tv and say I want to play for that guy, no matter what he's going to say good things about me.

Was Kanter really going to jump to be the #1 pick without playing last year?

Heck, there's a chance he still might.

I just don't buy into this garbage that he hasn't helped his draft stock. He's a top 5 pick no matter what. If you were willing to take a chance on him before, you're probably still willing to do so now.

He's referring to the Armenian genocide that Turkey allegedly committed (they deny it) about a century ago.

i dont like to talk politics in a website related to sports, and its obviously weird if the reason Givony doesnt give credit to Kanter is what u guys call genocide, but i dont use that word. Its obvious u dont know much about politics, in that time this events took place, there wasnt even a founded Turkish republic. But u talk like u lived 100 yrs ago and had witnessed all those events. Or maybe ure a reincarnation of an armenian guy killed at the world war?

Its easy to believe on stuff u hear on tv or newspaper, but im living in this region for 25 yrs and i have armenian neighbours who are really laughing to this genocide words.

So if we put this weird politics on one side, I am happy if Kanters stock is dropped, becuz everyone more or less knows what to expect from derrick williams, but its obvious Kanter has much higher upside than Derrick (which i dont claim he will reach his potential but i believe so) and it will be good for us to get Kanter at 3. He is the only player together with Irving in this draft who has potential to be a franchise player.

But if we wanna see a playoff team as we were in the past 5 yrs, we can pick d will, send kirilenko away, we already have promising young talents and some decent players, we can make playoffs right away. But if we wanna have a contender team, we gotta hit the bullseye by getting the best player available, not the best fitting player, be patient 1-2 yrs, and then im sure we will be in a really good position in 1-2 yrs. Becuz i dont really see many contending teams in the west for future. Dallas is old, kobe is old, san antonio players are already grandfather, there is only oklahoma and memphis which has good potential, so we have a open path to be a contender in the west, just we should follow a smart strategy in this draft, and for me, this is "Picking the best player available" not the " most fitting or less unknown player available"

The whole thing was a joke. We weren't seriously suggesting he has any racial agenda against Kanter.

i know i dont believe there s racism here, just it seemed weird the topic went in that direction. Every player get what they deserve at the end

Anyway i understand whoever doesnt support Kanter, becuz there r lots of europeans who were drafted high but turned out to be too fragile or not suitable for nba. You dont know much about Kanter but i dont know much more than you do as well.

Just my reference point is, i really havent seen such a talented turkish player in NBA. I thought memo isnt suitable for NBA and he will probably mess it up, and he did pretty well. I think Omer Asik isnt really talented at all but he seemed pretty good in his rookie yr, and Hedo has also lots of weaknesses for nba basketball, but somehow he compensated with his skills.

I dont really see any weakness in Kanters game, thats why i support him so much. But i dont claim he will fulfill his potential. I am jazz fan and i hope best for Utah jazz, im not gonna have patriotic support for Kanter if he doesnt play good. We will wait and see. I have confidence in KOC, i dont think he will mess the draft pick choice. And i think that, as we have a few valuable pieces and this draft seems weak for many people, we can use this as an advantage, and move our 12nd pick to 5 by giving out some pieces and next yrs draft right to get Knight along with Kanter. But i dont think many people follow this idea, i think its not impossible

So, I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. You say you're a Jazz fan .. yet you signed up in March of 2011 .. and all about Kanter (only subject). I admit I'm a pro-Kanter as well .. but I also have been a Jazz fan for years. No need to answer, just pointing out inconsistencies .. but I'm pullin' for ya'!

To show players that he will help them get drafted.

He is going to get drafted either way. I don't understand your Kanter hate. I know a lot of people on here like him and they can be very opinionated when it comes to him. Just saying that everyone should settle down on the subject. Ultimately, we have no say in the pick.

From a Jazz brass perspective, I'm sure a question on their mind has been "how COACHABLE is Kanter?". If he doesn't respond well to our coaching, he's less likely to improve his game in a Jazz uniform and shouldn't be selected. This should be thoroughly tested before we decide to take him at #3. EVERY rookie out there initially at least has flaws in their games; I can live with them.

He has to be pretty coachable if Coach Cal likes him. He also works out as evidence by his 5.9% body fat. Coaching won't be the issue. The issue is whether you think he is the real deal.

This is one area that is of no concern. Enes will be a student of the game, he's 100% coachable, and he applies everything with a vengeance. As I've said in other threads, I've seen him enough to know <<<----- that as fact. He may bust, but he'll give 100% everyday.

Or maybe Givony is in cahoots with Cleveland and wants to cloud the consensus #3 prospect with doubt, so that the Jazz will pass on him and he will fall to the bitter Cavs. ...Does Stern have any reason to "fix" the draft for a place like Cleveland? Is offsetting Lebron's departure by hooking Cleveland up with some new talent good business / damage control? I mean, a lot of people hate Lebron for abandoning Cleveland and it kinda left a sour taste in my mouth about the NBA. But if the league threw Cleveland a few talented bones wouldn't that maybe mitigate some of the sour taste and make the NBA's image a little better, or at least not quite so sour. ...my hatred of Stern knows no bounds and often leads me to the land of conspiracy. -- pardon me but I think I've strayed from the subject and landed in a tangent.

Unless there's a sine Stern fixed the draft, your tangent doesn't come close to touching reality.

That Utah and Cleveland both moved up is rather suspect. Twenty-nine teams hated "The Decision" and the circus it created. And most owners and execs applauded the move by Utah to trade Deron before he tried to dictate where he wanted to go (like Carmelo). I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but if I had to pick two teams to "reward" in the draft, they would be the Cavs and Jazz.
