What's new

Enes Kanter hasn't helped his draft stock

He has to be pretty coachable if Coach Cal likes him. He also works out as evidence by his 5.9% body fat. Coaching won't be the issue. The issue is whether you think he is the real deal.

Their relationship is more friends than coach-player. How can you be coachable when you are not playing?

What is his motivation for saying Kanter, a player that didn't log one minute for him, is better than Knight?

Because Knight has game films to support his game while Kanter doesn't. He says Knight is better than Kanter, people wouldn't know how much worse Kanter is. By saying Kanter should be drafted earlier, Calipari managed to find a floor for him. Clever.

So, I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. You say you're a Jazz fan .. yet you signed up in March of 2011 .. and all about Kanter (only subject). I admit I'm a pro-Kanter as well .. but I also have been a Jazz fan for years. No need to answer, just pointing out inconsistencies .. but I'm pullin' for ya'!

i signed 1 yr ago, but i forgot my passwod so i opened a new account and march 2011 is a lot before than Kanter talk has started for Jazz, i entered rather after Dwill trade.
Before judging others for inconsistency, u gotta have strong arguements which obviously u dont
And you obviously didnt follow my posts earlier which has nothing to do with Kanter. Just becuz i put his foto, its very superficial to think im worshipping kanter, but i think its very normal i support him. If you were an international,u would be supporting your countryman in the best basketball league in the world, am i wrong

Nope ... same reason that I support Kanter (well, sorta .. the UK connection). Same reason I support Knight. To be honest, I don't even remember the post you quoted or why I posted it, so I really can't speak to it intelligently. For that matter, couldn't speak intelligently regardless.

This is one area that is of no concern. Enes will be a student of the game, he's 100% coachable, and he applies everything with a vengeance. As I've said in other threads, I've seen him enough to know <<<----- that as fact. He may bust, but he'll give 100% everyday.

and here i dont agree again,
if he is 100% coachable he will be better than nowitzki, believe me

But i doubt if he will be like this. Becuz i see that he gave wrong decisions in the last 2 yrs with the manipulation of his agent and Calipari
He could play in Euroleague and World basketball championship, but just for american dream, he rejected to compete in high level competition platforms. He mixed nba dream with american dream, going to ncaa knowing u will 100 percent not be eligible is a proor he is still a kid and he cant give accurate decisions.
He had chance to go to nba much more ready, but he draw himself a much more complicated path, now i m not sure he will have a good performance in his rookie year
also it was a stupid comment to wish to go to wizard to play with John wall.

I have full confidence in his skills but not intangibles

We can agree on his talent and intangibles. However, part of your post is so wrong it's laughable. You say Calipari gave him advice to come to America, really? He didn't even initially sign with UK after his prep year of HS ball. How could Calipari have anything, at all, to do with that decision? Also, it's entirely misinformed and irresponsible (toward Enes and his parents) to say he had 0% chance of playing college bb. Mehmet Kanter did everything the best he could to protect Enes' amateur status and the NCAA took forever handing down a decision ... there was a TON of support to have him play ... it was anything but clear cut.

Also, it would have been massively better for his NBA career and his draft status to have played in U.S. this year, rather than Europe.

u didnt read my post correctly i think. I told he didnt give right decisions with manipulation of agent n calipari in last 2 yrs, i didnt mean he came to america with caliparis advice. But its obvious he affected him for some of the comments he make.
It was very obvious he isnt gonna play in ncaa, and sorry but i dont think its more benefitable to play in an american HS than euroleague. Calipari is a good coach, but he has too much effect on those young players sometimes

If u analyze well, most of the rookies who went from europe to nba after playing a couple of yrs in euroleageu are very nba ready, they dont make any rookie mistakes. That was what i mean, if he stayed in europe 2-3 more yrs instead of embarking on a journey that he doesnt know the end, now he could be pick #1. He lost almost 2 yrs without a significant competition.

Also he didnt wanna join turkish national team last year in world basketball team but if he did, he could gain a lot (in nba scout base too). Turkey was 2nd (after USA) and thanks to their performance in the competition, Omer Asik and Semih Erden were immediately brought to nba by their managers from Chicago and Boston, if he chose a different direction, he could help his draft stock more.
Lets just hope he had a really good training year in UK, and didnt lose much by missing high level competition

I m sure he did everythng, but NCAA has some rules that cant be bent. He played professional basketball in Turkey(even though it was really minor time) so it was pretty obvious he wasnt gonna win that chance.
Otherwise i would be more than happy he went to NCAA instead of playing in Turkey (even though it was the team that i support)

We're close. I disagree with quite a bit .. but that's okay. Best of luck to Enes wherever he's drafted.

ure UK fan i guess, so did u have any chance to see Kanter play? in practise or somewhere else?

Yes. I'm very close to the program. I saw him practice about a dozen times. Watched him play against NBA centers (Nazr Mohammed and Demarcus Cousins) as well. He looked very, very good. I also love his HUGE personality ... really funny guy.

so do u think he is as good as they mention to be, or u would rather pick Knight instead? (im sure u know knight better than most of us)

Haven't you been reading this board? PKM has stated about 20 times Kanter is the pick over Knight.
