What's new

Exum states that he absolutely feels more comfortable at the point...

Everyone knew that harden and curry were really good.

No one knows if exum is any good.

Apples to oranges dude. X in his 4th year is nothing like curry or harden in their 4th years (plus harden and curry had stellar college careers).
Compare their stats if you disagree.

Not a good comparison.
Yeah, he was a consensus top 5 pick because people thought he sucked. And the college comparison only hurts your point. Exum hasnt played as much pro as Curry did college. As a rookie, Curry got to play 30+ mpg on a crap team. Still, he didn't emerge as a cornerstone until years after. So he had a 6 or 7 year head start on what Exum has now. The kid has been a pro for 3 years and only played 2 seasons.

Have some patience or at least have as much as GS had with Curry despite his injuries and years in college.

Dante needs to listen to the coaching staff and humble himself a bit. They want him to be successful as much as he does. He's done nothing to show he is better than the guys that played in front of him and he needs to mentally and emotionally commit to being successful in his current role with the team.

We need to commit to that role and ride out the lows and learning moments. Our staff needs to have more patience with the guy for sure and invest in his future. He's shown some flashes... let him work through the difficult moments now.

The timing of his development was always going to be a challenge... the ACL made it so much harder. It may not work out, but both sides should try harder here.
Good post, but my only response is - play him. Play him a ton. The only way we contend is if Hood, Exum and/or Lyles become really good. They cant by not playing.

Exactly my point.
Comparing X in year four to harden and curry (even in their rookie years) is dumb.
Everyone knew that they were good.

No one knows if X is good.

I have been saying all along though that he should have got all the back up point guard minutes.
Mack and neto should have never played imo (unless they are needed due to injury).
We agree that X should have been used more.

I just think that acting like a young curry or harden is similar to X is wrong.

Completely different situations, playing time, and production.

I will say this, Dante should be the backup PG next year with no question. If they bring back Mack, they may as well trade Dante, which would be dumb.

Especially since we will still have Neto whose difference in pg production to Mack is negligible.

Catch game 4 against the warriors?

Yeah, what a bust... Bwaaaaahaaaahaaaaahaaaaahaaaaahaaaaahaaaaahaaahaa ha

Meaningless stats in blowout loss. Same like in OKC game. He is a bust so far ( for where he was drafted) and couple decent games a season is not going to change that label unless he starts constantly producing.
To state that Exum is the best chance Jazz have at competing is an insult to Hayward and Gobert TBH.

Wait, so people on here really think Klay Thompson cant guard Dante Exum?

Dante is quicker. Dante is quicker than almost everyone in the league, though. He's obviously not skilled enough to take advantage of Thompson right now over a meaningful amount of games/possessions whatever. But having a guy with that kind of athleticism can put a lot of pressure on a defense. I think that's one of the reasons why Dante can make plays even while looking really awkward at times. Getting to an advantageous spot is so much more effortless for him than a guy like Mack or Neto. He just needs the other parts of his game to catch up and take advantage.

We also have to win to retain Hayward... and thus we see the challenge DL, Quin and other had to deal with.

I think given his injury and starting point his development is about what I'd realistically expect. I think we hold on to him of course and give him a ton of PT next year.

Results are when Jazz are down 24 pts to GS and with Exum at PG leads a comeback.Jazz had nothing and were on the verge of total embarrassment on their homecourt.
His speed was stuck on the bench while the Jazz looked slow in all their losses.Snyder double downed on the old guys over and over.Exum brought elite speed into the Jazz offense and defense ,should have been used from the start of the series...whose fault was that.

Ronnie Price did the same thing against the Lakers.

.

Lol. You're obviously a stat watcher, which means your opinion on someone with such limited minutes is trash. Try actually watching some games. Exum was solid throughout the playoffs when he got a chance to play.

Had he been solid he would have played more, simple logic my friend. Hint - coach Snyder knows Exum's limitations better than you or other Exum fan boys, that's why he did not play much. It's up to Exum to prove that he deserves more playing time, so lets see if he can drag himself out of bust status via hard work this off season. It's his last chance with the Jazz.

"Deserves more playing time" **** me I'm so sick of hearing this ****.

Dante Exum, the sole member of the Jazz who have had to "Earn" their minutes throughout his career.

Rudy didn't (developed through playing actual minutes), Hayward didn't (given the keys and developed through playing experience ie minutes), Hood, Mack, Neto sure as **** didn't. Joe Ingles would be the only one to "earn" his minutes throughout his career. Give me a break!

this .. only Joe Ingles and Dante Exum have had to "earn" their minutes... do we see a pattern here ?? Obviously the Utah Jazz are anti-australian racists ..

Remember Kanter? His fan boys were crying same foul about how come top 3 pick is on the bench... And yet both Corbin and Snyder were right for not playing him more.
If Jazz would be like Sixers or Suns who do not care about making playoffs and would play young kids just to find out what they have despite their shortcomings than it would be different. But were were playoff team this year and hopefully will be for years to come. There is little room for force feeding overhyped pick undeserved minutes at a cost of losing games. Unless management will give Snyder green light and says , "hey we do not care about wins this season, lets see what Dante can do" it won't happen. Unless Exum proves that he deserves it.

Alec burks is another one who was never just "given" minutes.
He played behind a horrible raja bell, cj miles (before he was any good), washed up Josh howard, randy foye, Richard jefferson, and then Rodney Hood.

I really want Exum getting 16 minutes per night behind each Hill and Ingles for 32 total. If he can shoot the 3 just slightly better than he did post ASG and play strong defense, it's possible. Not really likely but still. Even 24 minutes a night and I'd be really happy.
