Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil...
After the moves he made last night do you really believe he can't do everything Jefferson can do with much better defense? He needs consistency with it but he also needs more minutes to get that.I hate to be the ball buster here, but Favors numbers this year are almost identical to last year's. He's not improving with the minutes given and his stock is starting to fall because of it. If the Jazz can get a stud for Favors then they shouldn't hesitate.

I'd do Favors for Rose.
I didn't get to watch the game and MFin Root didn't replay like they almost always do. Paging Prodigy.
But no, I doubt Favors will ever do "everything Jefferson can". That's a very tall glass to fill and players generally show exceptionalism early on. A few have taken years to catch on but that list is slim. The point is Favors is not showing much in the way of improvement with the minutes he's getting. 20 per game isn't chump change. You think he'll magically improve vastly with another 9 or 10 per game when he's not doing it with fresh legs on 20?
The kid has talent and will get better, no doubt, but he's no DeMarcus Cousins level talent. I am hoping a Jermain O'Neal situation develops over the next 3 years, but even if it doesn't I don't see how the Jazz lose with Favors.
He had some great moves last night and some of them Jefferson could not do. He was very effective from the post and had 3 or 4 possessions in a short time period in which he mad different post moves. They even sent a double team at him one of the plays and he scored anyway.I didn't get to watch the game and MFin Root didn't replay like they almost always do. Paging Prodigy.

I think he has the ability to do everything Jefferson does in the post while drawing more fouls and becoming more efficient. I was leaning toward the Jazz needing Jefferson and that Millsap had to go instead. Last night Favors showed me that he could easily do what Jefferson does with a little more work at it. Getting minutes to work on it, would be huge for this kid. Jefferson overall is still a very inefficient offensive player. I don't see why Favors can't exceed that in the same amount of minutes.
Over the last six games, Favors is averaging 9.42 points on 53.6% from the floor and 6.29 rebounds in just over 20 minutes a game. Translated into 35 minutes a night, that's 16.49/11.01 a game. More importantly, what I've seen, especially last night, is more aggressiveness on the offensive end.

We have to keep in mind a few things. First and foremost, he's 20. More importantly, these stats are being accomplished (by a 20 year old) despite poor free throw shooting (imagine if he could shoot 75% from the line), some of the best rebounders in the league on his own team, and absolutely no teammates to stretch the floor in order to minimize the double and triple teams on him, or at least give him more breathing room to work. It would be easy to accumulate stats on a crappy team much like Brooke Lopez did pre-Deron but to do it with a good amount of talent around him at these rates, considering all of the following, is quite impressive actually.
I'll temper that by saying I realize his field goal and free throw percentages are a bit disconcerting and that his turnovers have gone up while his blocks have gone down. But again, he's 20. There will be peaks and valleys. So overall, I'm content at this point.
You'd think he'd be efficient at some point in his career if this were the case.As much as I hate Jefferson's defensive rotations and rebounding, he truly is the best offensive center in the NBA IMO
3. He runs the floor, and might be able to learn how to play positionally without the ball. Easy buckets are good, and Al doesn't excel at putting himself or his team in a position to get them. With that said, what's the minimum talent you'd require back to trade him?
1. Garbage ball goes a long way in breaking an opponent's morale. Think of Odom crushing the Jazz in the playoffs on the offensive glass. That's offensive edge #1 over Jefferson.
2. Anyone who controls the ball as much as Jefferson should get to the line 7-8 times per game. Jefferson would be a dominating 22-24+ point scorer if he ever drew fouls. If Favors can do that and shoot even a poor % then that's edge #2.

Wow.... I'll leave it at that.
If you think the best Center in the NBA should average less than 50% from the field and rarely get to the line then I believe you need to take a second look at your opinion.
Does he have the occasional great game... Sure.... But at times it is damaging to the offense. When the guy after 8 years finally realized that passing the ball put of the post can HELP the offense overall I wouldn't come close to calling him the best offensive center in the game.
If footwork were the only thing that mattered, the Jazz would be wise to hire a ****ing ballerina. He probably meant that he believes Al has the best post moves of any center in the NBA.
I hope this rumor is false. Favors has the energy and athleticism that we need. With more playing time theres No telling what He can become.
