What's new

Favors returns!

This is a good deal. Show appreciation for a player who sacrificed his body and risked his health and paycheck for the team, get an out in case better options present themselves next year.

The Jazz showing players around the league and in their own locker-room that they will do the right thing for the right type of attitude. I love it.

And never checked out, bitched, or became a locker room distraction. Took the right attitude of helping when and where he could.

Also, he is great off the court. Talked to him in the tunnel 4-5 times now... always stops and talks to my 10 year old son... rarer than you think - hayward, Rudy, Joe Johnson aint got time for that.

He's our dude!

Good deal. Works for both parties: gets a raise for Favors and allows him to get back to the market and for us it gives us flexibility while we find a long-term answer next to Gobert. I also helps our image and maintains team chemistry.

Some people in this forum went to Trump's University negotiation class: squeeze your counterpart until you get everything you want

He deserves his payday but damn, 18 million is pretty hardcore. I don't see us doing much in FA so it's not a huge deal, I just expected less.

You're certainly in a lot of tunnels. Do you have to get tickets near there or you just walk over?

A healthy Favors is a difference maker. We are a good team with him healthy. Gobert and him play well together when healthy.

I expect his corner 3 to be passable.

We overpaid just a little too get a team option for the second year. That's a really good deal for the Jazz. It gives us a lot of options next year.

Millers took that 1.5M and gave it to Favs... I won't complain about selling the pick anymore.

DL: We were going to offer you a small raise at $13M, but here's $5M more to come back with a three ball.

Some people believed the Jazz were going to offer less than his previous salary? As I said, that's not how they do business (I'm looking at you @nateboz)

Good grief... I'm glad that we are keeping Favs, but even 15 would have been a pretty good increase. 3 here 5.5 for Thabo, who knows with Exum... I woulda liked some savvy this offseason. Maybe there still will be...

There's no material difference between the Jazz offering $15 million or $18 million for this season. It makes no different in the Jazz salary options other than taking a little more out of their pockets and moving a little more into Favors', keeping him happier on this one year deal. It was a very smart move imo.

Probably his last year, but good to have him back. Hopefully Bradley can develop 1 more year in the Gleague and then be ready to go as Rudy's backup.

14 or 15 would have been fine, but as @Ron Mexico pointed out, we overpaid a little bit to get the second year non-guaranteed. We are not using our salary cap anyway so 2 or 3M extra doesn't make a difference. We are going to use our MLE instead

Visiting team tunnels for an out of towner are great. We always go when the doors open now... Games at Sacramento and Oakland. They will let you hang out down there before the game if you obey the rules.

1- Stay off the stairs... wait for the guys in the aisles of seats and not the stairs. I generally buy in that section now anyway (cheap cuz the Kangs suck!)
2- Only ask when guys are coming off the court.

You'll get 3 or 4 guys to stop... Neto, Rubio, Ingles, Favs are the coolest... Hoodie also stopped but you have to watch your phone.

Pretty genius by DL. We're better this season with Favors, and gives us flexibility to open a max contract spot next offseason.

I dig it.

i think it is a great deal because only one year is guaranteed. Beside the fact that DF was probably unpaid in his first contract. This still fits the plan of having crap room for 2019. i probably would have been upset if both years were guaranteed. Welcome back Favors.
