It was only 1 game and I missed the game actually. So anybody wanna give me there thoughts on how Fesenko effected this game for the Jazz?

Fesenko was the only player in the + category for the Jazz?

Comparing this stat to how he actually effected the game for the Jazz?

I thought he boxed Bynum out very well and played good D on Bynum as well and probably only got called for one cheapy on him which may be the most surprising.

He did a great job doing what he was in the game to do: keep Bynum at bay and off the boards. Bynum did not get a fg until the second half because Fes made every shot he took very difficult. And the Lakes went to Bynum many times down low but he could not score on the goofy Ukranian. And he blocked out great on every rebound. Looks like it is time to sit him down for another 30 games or so.

Ty deserves a gold star for this move. Okay, a silver start, it only seems like gold because of all the years where Sloan failed to attempt anything different against the Lakers than the same ole that was getting squashed every time.

Fess completely shut down Bynum in the 1st half. Had him frustrated. He also managed to play great help defense and was a key in shutting down the middle through most of the 1st half. He honestly should have played more minutes. I also liked that he hammered Kobe on 2 separate plays when he tried to go to the basket.

The 15' jumper he hit was funny.

Oh, forgot about the rebounding the Lakers had 2 offensive boards in the 1st half. Fess was blocking out and going after the ball. Twice the Lakers were called for over the back fouls as Fess blocked them out.

I think things just caught the lakers off a little bit and it didn't take the lakers long to figure the jazz out. I don't mind having him back next year as much as i put the guy down. That was a interesting line up and i was surprised to see the ball was moving around. Didn't think that was going to happen at all. The kobe block and fes knocking him to the ground was the highlight of the night.

I don't think Fes would always have such a good defensive game, like you said some of it may have been catching them off guard a bit as well as we know the main issue with Fes is mental consistency could always keep him from contributing.
With that said I've never minded him on the team as your not going to find a cheaper 7'1" guy that can actually have an effect on the game.

Can't understand why he doesn't get more time? He gets 4 fouls in about 2 minutes! .... and he's terrible!

When you know your only going to play a few minutes, there is no reason not to play hard and foul. Tonight when he knew he was going to play he had 3 fouls in 28 minutes. He's not terrible. He's not great. But he should be resigned, if he's cheap.

I never could understand why he doesn't get more time on the floor

Because he is always sick or something. Are people really not aware of how often he has issues? He didn't play against the Wizards because of high blood pressure. High blood pressure.

He also gets migraines a lot that keep him out. Plus his stomach aches. Sore throats. Colds. Etc.

As I've said multiple times on this board...Fes doesn't sit the bench just because the coaches don't think he's good - he's always sick or something. That's why threads and comments saying WHY DOESN'T FES PLAY OMG! OUR COACHES ARE SO DUMB! get annoying after a while.

There are way more games where he gets a DNP due to coaches decision than because he is sick or something. Are you trying to say he has not been available to start the entire year?

Yes, the coaches have been dumb to not play him all year. The starters, back when we had a set group, started badly every single game and one of the big reasons was no interior D and not rebounding. I wonder if Fes could have helped there? Yet, they are so into running their offensive system they only think about that and Fes does not fit that real well so he rides the pine while the team goes down by 15 in the first quarter. It wasn't a fluke that the Jazz were up so much against the Lakes last night: Fes had a major role in that.

and how many of those DNP's are due to his missing practice or being ineffective during practice because of illness or related reasons????

I do not care because I have seen time and again when he gets significant minutes, he is effective. And do you have any info whatsoever to back up your claim? Have any coaches ever said that Fes got a DNP tonight because he was jackpotting again at practice? You no clue that has happened.

He is always 7'1", big, moves well, blocks out, and patrols the paint. He does not need to score to be useful. But Jerry and Jerry Junior had a starting 5 donchya know, and they had to stick to that, despite the results.

Fess is always good for a game or two a year where he surprises everyone. Yes, he has shown flashes of some pretty nice play over the past 2 years. But his progress has been minimal.

People need to look at the big picture. For every "good" game Fess has, he has 10 games where he either is "sick" with a hangover or jackpots around fouling or dribbling the ball off his foot.

Move on.

Raja, Fess, Price, and Fess need to be off this roster next year. Develop Favors.

Lol no. I was responding to the post asking:

So no, I was not trying to say he has not been available to start the entire year. Come on man.

Again, you misunderstand and mis-characterize another person's posts. Moe never said he was jackpotting (goofing around) and thus didn't get playing time. He said he was ineffective "because of illness or related reasons." Goofing around is not related to illness.

If you want evidence then go read back through the twitter pages for @tribjazz, @djjazzjody, @utah_jazz, @jonrinehart and others. They often list why Fes will not play or come out a day later and state why he was inactive. I've also heard coaches and KOC say that they want to get Fes out there more except he is often recovering from something. Locke also has stated that "the Jazz" (management, coaches, players? I don't know for sure) have been frustrated at times because when opportunities arise for Fes (Jefferson, Millsap, Elson, etc. are out) that Fes is unable to play and they can't rely on him.

So no, the onus is on you to go get some info showing that the coaches just decide not to play Fes.

I like Fes, probably not as much as sirkicky, but I like him. I just get sick of everyone claiming a giant conspiracy. Do I think the only reason Fes sits out is because of illness, no. But I do think that plays a huge part in why he isn't in game shape, fouls, and can't get more than a few minutes.

Fesenko is a pretty terrible basketball player (sorry, Kicks, but I love a pretty terrible basketball player, too), but I think he's probably the funniest interview the Jazz have ever had: "Fesenko said Bryant's 'kitty cat' and 'teddy bear' comments after the Jazz-Laker game puts him 'on the map. ... Thank you.'"

This.

In spades.

Fes will be gone. If he winds up playing well next year as somebody's backup center, lots of people will content themselves with the idea that his failures here were all his fault. But every good organization has to make some determination on whether a player didn't take advantage of the opportunities given him, or whether he was denied opportunity.

No question Fes has immaturity issues. But there's also no question he should have gotten a consistent rotation role at some point. Especially since we had minutes to give him at a position of need all year.
