Fesenko +7 rest of team -

Anyone want to mention Fesenko's inability to post up on a guy half a foot (at least) shorter and one hundred pounds (at least) lighter guarding him, despite the Jazz' multiple attempts to do so? Westphal actually did some good coaching there after Millsap abused Garcia.

That's Fes in a nutshell right there.

Probably one of the craziest things I've seen in a while.

While I am not a huge Fes fan, it didn't help that CJ threw a bounce pass at his knees.

Fes had Garcia on him for about 4 or 5 offensive possessions and didn't score once.

I had to laugh - Fes is so much bigger than Garcia that a couple of times he blocked out Garcia's whole body from the camera angle.

Ya the Jazz announcers commented that the passes weren't the best but it was frustrating to watch even if it wasn't all Fes's fault, throw the ball at his face can't get to that ball unless they foul. Reminded me of watching a Ute guard attempt at an entry pass, in that it was something totally foreign to them and they got frustrated and just threw it in any which way.

There was one decent entry pass to him and he got fouled, made both free throws. Do that a couple more times and they have to change their strategy. But no one could get a decent pass into Fes. And so Corbin gives up again and lets cousins go off on Sap just so they can run the "jazz system" offense. How'd that work out Tyrone?

and how many times did his teammates look to get him the ball during those 4 or 5 times?

well, maybe, didn't see the game, but the other posts suggest that he only got one decent pass to catch

He didn't seal his man well enough to receive a pass. The one from Jefferson was bad, but I take the football receiver mentality for catching a ball in the post. If it hits your hand, you've got to catch it. He couldn't keep Garcia on his back to receive the ball on the "knee pass" he got. The other possession had guys on the wing looking to pass down to him, but he couldn't keep his man sealed enough to have the ball passed to him.

That leads to the other thing. Fes has such bad hands that you have to pinpoint a pass just to get him to catch it. Harpring said in the telecast that he should have received a pass up high. Does anyone really have any confidence that he'd catch a ball thrown above his head? Obviously Fes' teammates don't.

Winger, his hands are fine for a big man. you can find real reasons to criticize him on, you don't need to make them up. The fact is that his teamates could not make a good pass to him. He should have walked that small guy under the hoop and gotten a high pass for a dunk. And the one pass he did get, he tried to score, got fouled, made the FT so it was an effective move. I will admit it was more than a bit awkward attempt to score, but in the end it was effective.

Nonsense. I've never seen a pro level player of any size have such a hard time catching or holding onto the ball.

Then you obviously never saw this man play:

You need to watch more basketball. I heard one of the TNT color guys, one of the old nba hc like maybe hubie, say he has good hands for a big man.

It is amazing on boards like this to see fans conjur up all sorts of bs about a player they do not like. There may be good reasons to not like Fes and think he is not worthwhile, but bad hands is not one of them. Find some real reasons.

I'm still seeing the same arguments here getting repeated in different words. I contend we haven't really seen what Fes could do because we haven't given him the court time to get any better. I get the other side of the argument which is nothing he ever did justified his getting that time. But this is not an Araujo argument to my mind. I believed Araujo would never make it. He just wasn't skilled. I believe Fes can make it, but he never got the time due to disproportionate weight placed on immaturity issues.

That is a bit of overstatement, but I agree with you that Fes has terrible hands. He's always punching rebounds rather than grabbing them. I think we can point these things out without bruising someone's Fes protecting ego.

Yes, I guess I just got caught up in the rampant hyperbole of a sports forum. Fes does not have the worst hands of any NBA big in history. That said, he's got pretty ****ing bad hands for someone his size.
