Following 2016 potential draftees

I'd be very happy with Valentine. A leader (which we badly need) who can do a little bit of everything (which we like), play multiple positions (which we like), drain the 3 (which we like) and defend (which we like). If we got him, I'd look to trade Alec pronto.

Here's to Michigan State sucking in the NCAA Tournament so Valentine doesn't improve his draft stock and go top-10. His game VS Ohio State on Saturday was amazing.

Simmons isn't even eligibile for the Wooden Award. Not that he'd be getting it anyway but what a clown. Especially considering his dad is on the staff. Those facts coupled with even going to LSU and likely not making the tourney would scare me tbh. Could be some consistent and unavoidable flakiness there or something.

The immaturity after the game was telling.. Simmons took the opportunity to downplay Tyler Ulis as a basketball player.

To play devil's advocate to myself, if Exum comes back and looks like garbage or gets re injured AND we trade Burke this off-season (quite possible), we will have to endure another God awful season at the Pg position. Drafting a 1 or 1/2 combo may be the smart way to go.

Valentine *cough* Valentine.

This is Murray.. not that we are within range.
Averaging 20pts/game, 42.3% from 3, and very good vision.

2017 is good PG class both in the draft and in FA. If Exum looks like a bust after the 2016-2017 season we can address the position that summer.

Oh man are you right about the '17 PG's.. yikes.

Yeah, there might be like... 5-6 great PG prospects in the lottery in 2017. And I mean, better than anybody in this current draft. That 2017 draft is insanely good all around. Looks like it's missing only a high level 5 prospects. I think we should load up on 2017 picks and try to maneuver our way into whoever we like best.

I was pimpin the '17 thread in the 2014 thread...
That's why I loved getting the GSW pick..
Combine and move up (or package for a STUD vet).

By trading who?
Jazz have their own pick, GS' and a lottery-protected pick from OKC. IF Durant leaves MAYBE OKC falls to 7th/8th (we hope). So let's say Utah and OKC are both 4th-6th seeds. GS will be 1-2. Picks in the range of 18, 22 and 30. That MIGHT get Utah to 12th or so, I just don't see many teams willing to give up a top-10 pick for late 1st's. DL got extra assets, but not very good ones. Certainly not the caliber of what Boston has in their war chest.

I wouldn't mind trading all our picks this year for picks in 2017. For example I'd take #23 in 2017 over #15 this year.

All teams are going to want lottery protection on picks, especially if we're giving them a pick out of the lottery. GM's aren't dumb; they know the 2017 draft is supposed to be strong.

More likely, I think, is Burke and our 1st round pick for a veteran.

USA Today just released their cbb All-American teams.

Tyler Ulis - 1st team
Jamal Murray - 2nd team
Ben Simmons - 3rd team

^my agenda? Simmons has shown he's a self-absorbed ***. Not going to class, doesn't carry the required 2.0 GPA to qualify for the Wooden award, and sour grapes bad-mouthing Tyler Ulis, to reporters, after a blowout loss.

I blame Simmons GPA problem on the language barrier.

Put me on the denzel Valentine wagon also. 1st benifit is he comes frome one of the greatest basketball coaches and mind in the ncaa. So you know he will know how to play the game.

2nd he could play with and or back up exum.

3rd he is a decent shooter.

4th he seems to be very vocal. That is something the jazz desperately need.
