I say he's a better project than Frank Kaminsky. He's also technically Australian and it's probable he and Exum will be teammates on the national squad for years to come.

That's projected top-10 pick in 2017 Bam Adebayo trying to guard him here./
Thon would add a different look to this team. His skillset at 7'1" is far from the norm. I could see him developing into a really solid bench player in his 2nd year.
All he needs to do is have a smooth transition to the league and he's going to play a long time, so with that in mind, I think the Jazz would be an excellent landing spot for him. I could see his rookie season turning into a bit of a circus elsewhere.
Thon has the type of talent that if he's going to get better every year, a la Hayward and Favors, you have a possible gem.
He plays with effort and teams will like that.

FWIW, Ford has Skal at #16 and Thon at #20. One or both could be available when we pick, along with Luwawu, Korkmaz, and Baldwin. There should definitely be some good options available for us in the mid teens.
Lindsey gonna pull off the steal of the draft yet again?
Does he have the athleticism/skills to see minutes at SF in the NBA?
I'd have a hard time believing Thon could fall to #20, and if so, why even declare this year?
If the Jazz get Thon Maker with the 15th or 16th pick, I'd totally be stoked! He kinda reminds me of Kevin Garnett by the way he plays. If not, Skal would also be great as well.
I would be intrigued. Lots of potential, but pretty far away from making an impact, might bust as well. I think the jazz/DL would love to show off the new SLC Stars as well and our potential for player development. I'd pull the trigger. Though I'll be pretty confident with whoever we draft.
Yeah, putting Thon with Rudy would be terrifying. But realistically, I think he'd be gone in the 5-6 range if NBA approves he's eligibility for the draft. A lottery team is always willing to gamble on potential.

Reminds me of a 7'1" version of Rashard Lewis.
Thon Maker kinda reminds me of Gorgui Dieng.
I can't see that happening, unless he has some crazy workouts. He's very, very raw and lacks a lot of skills right now. Sounds like he doesn't have any NBA skills at the moment. The team that drafts him is going to have to be dedicated to developing him. NBA guys believe he'll most likely spend his first year in the d-league, maybe second year too.

True but NBA teams love athletic bigs and Thon fits in perfectly in that category. I see him doing a 'Porzingis' and shoot up the draft boards easily. I don't see him fall pass the top 10. If he did, that would be crazy. A lot of teams would be trying to trade up for him.
