Following 2016 potential draftees

8/8 16 points 8 rebounds 5 blocks in this game the other day. 7'1" Georgios Papagiannis, is skilled and mobile, he's got some reliable post moves and great hook shot. damn good FT and midrange shooter too.

He's supposedly deciding between St. Johns, N.C. State, Oregon and Kentucky.

My prediction is the Johnnies. He has a great relationship with Slice.

The Jazz are well positioned to move up in any of these next few drafts though, and could absorb the cost better than most. IMO they're still in 'asset acquisition mode', there's nothing that signals urgency in drafting Lyles.

This is totally a homegrown rebuild.. they're using FA's as placeholders. there's not even an official thread on free agency with 12 hours til its live, because the rosters so talented already. this F/O should be commended for their patience.. I really like this tactic and hope it continues, it will probably pay huge dividends. I always wanted to root for a team who did exactly this, it's what the Knicks would never do.

It appears like the F/O really did have Lyles singled out of the bunch though. I'd imagine they had quite a few offers for that pick.

perhaps im reading into it too much - I look at Lyles and to a lesser degree Hanlan, they seem to be almost hand picked for the system in place.. Hanlan not so much to for staying power, I don't see them taking a 2nd rounder unless they thought hes got a chance to flash in the system.

Could there be projects that match similar criteria in next years draft ?? I don't see why not.

Just in case you are curious, here's the (unpublished) list of UK's offers for this class.

Alkins
Allen
Azubuike
Bolden
Bridges
Cage
Giles
Isaac
Josh Jackson
Killeya-Jones
Maker
Monk
Simmons
Tatum

Peeks I've gotta ask- What do you make of 2017's Billy Preston, who was born 10/26/97 ??Is that a typo?! Is he supposed to re-classify up?!? This is a peculiar story, he actually looks like a good stretch 4 prospect too, with size, athleticism, handle and a jumper...

I've seen some tape but that's it. I don't know anything.

For all Vezenkov fans:

Vezenkov has a deal with Barca

Sasha Vezenkov is leaving Greece for Barcelona which offered him a four year deal which will pay him in total a sum near two million euros according to the report of the Greek site SDNA.

In his contract an NBA opt out clause is included which is expected to be one million euros, while his current team, Aris, will get a 315.000 euros buy out.

Barcelona was one of the first teams which were interested on the player, Panathinaikos also wanted him and Valencia was in the race, but in the end the Catalans who are expected to have many new faces in their roster, prevailed.

Brunson was good, but can't hold a candle to Frank Jackson. Really impressed with Giles length and Jackson was the best player on the floor.

well sure. stranger things have happened than a player like Brunson going one-and-done, I was high on Tyler Ennis when it was presumed he was a 4 year starter at Cuse. Brunson seems much more advanced and polished at this point.

Gimme Dennis Smith Jr over any of these PG's near 6' though. He's the best.

I'm not sure Frank Jackson is even the best PG on the west coast in the class of 2017. Lonzo Ball looks like a gamechanger.

Trevon Duval from c/o 2017 might be better than Frank too, The recent footage from him reminds me of Kyrie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx-TJ9nIkYw

I'll have to pay attention to Duval and Ball because I haven't seen a small guard in 16 or 17 that is a more complete or explosive scorer than Frank.

Furkan's reverse dunk.

He also had 2 very big 3-pointers, one of them being a 4-point play, after struggling in the first half. Knows how to step up but disappears at times.

Harry Giles with the dish to Jayson Tatum for the dunk of the tournament... The defender got a bloody nose and everything.

Looks like some Greeks showed up with a confederate flag. classy.

****. If you are watching the SL over this game... really bad move...

Vasileios Charalampopoulos is making it rain

Greece hits another buzzer-beater, this game is insane. never seen anything quite like this in a fiba youth tournament game. Jayson Tatum with another slam..

Sorry some people dont like watching HS kids play basketball.

I'm sure the Summer League is much higher quality play... LOL. The Magic just let THAT Clippers squad come back on them, enough said.

There's professionals and college kids playing in this game, this match has had everything, even 2 clutch underhanded freethrows.

Charalampopoulos gets minutes for the Panathinaikos. It looks like he might be relevant to this thread.

Terrance Furgeson with 2 dagger 3's and then tries to shush the crowd. Haha. It's over.
