Following 2016 potential draftees

Better, he moves pretty darn well for a big.

- this is an insane mix, prodigy. My gosh. Your videos are un****withable
- Pöltl is a must-pick at 12 if he slips that far. I'm not usually as adamantly BPA as others, but he's too much talent to pass up
- my favourite thing about Jakob is how smart of a player he is. It's similar to my love for Bembz-- players like these know how to help teams even if they aren't getting 10 touches a game. High basement players that can flourish if the environment is right. He'll be an NBA player for years, IMO. It's hard to project a ceiling on him, but I think it depends on how well he can defend on switches, and how good his FT-line jumper becomes.

Why lazy? My comparison is not based on their Utah connection. I think their games are similar - great pick and roll bigs, with good touch in the post and around the rim, both good rebounders. Bogut was more explosive, but Poeltl has OK hops too. Both can pass out of the high and low post, although I'd say Bogut was more polished passer. Both can defend the rim, again I think Bogut was better at it and still is. Thus, a poor man's Bogut. I think their games are similar, with Bogut just being slightly better in some aspects. Poeltl might develop a better midrange jumpshot that Bogut never really did.

Bogut was a far superior defender and passer at this level, while having a good college repertoire on offense. He was a friggin 1st overall pick man.

His stats are better than Poetl but Poetl played in a better conference, though still a super ****ty one.

Actually coming into the NBA defense was a knock on him, because coaches had told him to save himself from foul trouble, because they needed his offense. But yah, there's nothing I disagree with here really.

Well their stats are not that far apart when adjusted for minutes played:
Per 40 mins:

Poeltl: 22.7pts, 12 rbs, 2.6 ast, 2.0 blk... efficiency: 67% TS%
Bogut: 23.4pts, 14 rbs, 2.7 ast, 2.1 blk, efficiency: 65% TS%

Lopez: 25.1pts, 10.6rbs, 1.8ast, 2.7blk, efficiency: 54% TS%

The dude shot 64% from the field as a primary option. That's pretty dominant. I added Brook Lopez's sophomore year at Stanford (Per 40 mins). I think Brook Lopez might represent a fairly reasonable comparison. Lets say Lopez is a little more physically dominant, but not quite as mobile and not as good a passer as Poeltl appears to be.

The entire Gonzaga team outplayed the entire Utah team, I wouldnt take away much other than the PAC-12 is a conference of teams that choke. Poetl however is a great player and probably the 3rd or 4th best player in the draft.

Say what you want but I watched the whole game and Sabonis out played him and it wasn't close. Actually Sabonis owned him all game.

This. The whole team couldn't miss. That entire game was one big snowball of a game and Poeltl didn't get the touches he needed

I would agree with this
Poeltl's standing reach at 9'3.5" is the second highest in the draft. In NBA sets and better floor spacing his handle and mobility may give him more versatility than people expect. He's an interesting prospect.

I didn't really watch the Utes. What's his passing like?
Best passing big in college this year in my opinion at 7feet or taller.
I can't see the Jazz picking Poeltl, he is not a "swing for the fences" type of pick. He'll probably be a solid rotation player. I'd rather just trade the pick to someone who values him higher.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say u didn't watch him play much. Most athletic player in the draft. Post moves Upon post moves. He's in my opinion a top three pick in this class 5 years ago
He actually looks like poor-man's younger (pre-injuries) Andrew Bogut to me. I don't see the Blake comparison at all.
I disagree. Poeltl is much more explosive with a face up game to go along with an elite post game and great in pick'n roll and much better finisher at the rim. Similarities are that both are great passers with high IQ. Bogut was more cerebral, and played more as a facilitator from the top of the key and more of a bruiser inside, and better rim Protector his timing on shot blocking was unreal

I agree about his post game possibly being better than Bogut's(part of it because of what Cy pointed out - his agility) but I definitely don't agree that Poeltl is more explosive than Bogut was. People forget just what kind of an athletic monster Bogut was in his prime before injuries hit.

Showing me a highlight video that constitutes less then 1% of everything he did in a year means nothing to me. It's not enough to convince me he is as explosive.

That's all that I have of his earlier days. If this doesn't convince you that he used to be explosive, nothing will... Poeltl doesn't have one highlight play on the same level of explosiveness as half the things in this video.

edit: Actually here's one more of his rookie or sophomore year(not as impressive as the other one):

So, I tell u that some highlight video isn't enough to convince me, so logically u show me a second video. Brilliant ace.

Damn, I love watching vids of young Bogut:

Such a fun player. I wonder if the Warriors need capspace whether he'd be up for playing for the Jazz for a year or two at the end of his career.

No, I told you if the first one is not enough to convince you nothing will. I'm just posting fun Bogut videos of his old Milwaukee days. Don't feel like they are aimed at convincing you, we'll just agree to disagree on this one.
