Following 2016 potential draftees

But isn't his shooting a worry? It's a shooter's league now in the NBA, and if you can't make outside shots that's a bit no-no in my book... defense can collapse on you, etc, etc,.

He had a midrange jumper open twice in the final 14 seconds of last nights game, down by 1, and he differed both times.

In the first half the announcers noticed that Marquette was daring him to shoot and it was working for the most part.

The ting is Ben is too damn big and strong for most college teams to have any chance to deal with, so he can just coast to stuff the stat sheet. No one's gonna force him to shoot. Not even when their down. Blakeney and Sampson and a few players on LSU have quick triggers which will help him avoid shooting even more.

I ask if he's not gonna shoot 3's on the shorter college line, hows it gonn alook in the NBA when he's got taller players like Giannis guarding him.

Thought I would just drop this here rather than digging up the 2018 thread, for now.

I spoke with someone on the UK staff about 2017 recruits, today. Here is who I was told are the main targets as of today;

Trae Young
John Petty
Kris Wilkes
Jarred Vanderbilt
DeAndre Ayton
Nick Richards

A few notes;
Cal is very high on Vanderbilt and is personally predicting him to blow up next season. REALLY wants to coach him.
UK feels great about all of these except Ayton.. only because he's so quiet and doesn't show his hand at all.

So is anyone watching LSU?? Ben Simmons is scoreless at the half, didn't take a shot in the first 17 minutes and then just threw up an airball from the corner, from 20 feet.

Thats an outrageous class. Tons of skill. The bigs are ultra athletic too. I posted about Jarred Vanderbilt on the 3rd page of this thread like a year and a half ago, any class that has him in it, I won't complain about.

Nick Richards and Ayton would absolutely decimate opposing frontcourts..

Just saw this and was like "Wut, Cal is leaving UK for Vandy?"

Patrick McCaw is quickly becoming one of my favorite guards to watch in the nation. He's got a great handle and 1st step, he's shifty, can shoot and pass, has really nice quickness and great hands on defense/instincts jumping passing lanes. I like him better than Caris LaVert.

Derrick Jones just threw down an absolute poster. He seriously might be good enough to be a priority 2nd round pick this year as a one and done. I like him WAAAAAY better than J.P. Tokoto of yesteryear.

Is anyone else watching this LSU game right now? Down by 10 he's 0-3 from the field and 0-2 from the FT line. This team coulda really used Jordan Mickey..

That Simmons can't shoot and is hesitant? I don't think anyone cares. He is 19 and the most talented player in college who is 6'9 and an elite athlete with elite IQ.

Well their missing a good game. I like to see the top players under pressure. Simmons peripheral stats are off the charts, I'm not sure if this type of play is really going to wow NBA each and every scout though.. he's kind of just using his natural advantage and coasting, and letting the guards handle the scoring load.

Brandon Sampson is very impressive, leading them in scoring off the bench, even thought they've bene starting him.

Tim Quarterman is a certified ball-hawk too love seeing that from a guard.

Have you seen this recent bit on how Young has a behind the back step-back jumper like Steph Curry?

New tape on him today, here's a link to the move in question. https://www.instagram.com/p/-DQiorLhTr/

I thought Coach Cal had trouble getting SF's, your saying Petty, Wilkes and Vanderbilt? I;m guessing Vanderbilt would play some 4

NC State vs LSU going to OT. Not th best showing from Blakeney. Brandon Sampsons looked much better.

Simmons picks up his 5th foul 54 seconds into the OT. And the defensive possession before, Abu whooped him and got an easy layup.

It's over 2 losses in a row for LSU.

If it's the end of the year and he is still this hesitant, then you have a valid concern. This far into the season though, it just sounds like nitpicking.

WHO YOU CALLING a nitpicker, mother ****er? You're a nitpick. And I brush aside all nitpicks a dozen at a time... without breaking my stride and taking digits from supermodels.
Pfft. You can't hold my jock, bitch.

Ben Simmons has one of the wildest stat lines you'll see at the NCAA level. 2 points on 0-5 FG, but 13 rebs, 10 assists, 3 blocks, 3 steals

He might be a good fantasy player, but not really sure if I'd want him on my NBA team?

Looks kinda like something Aaron Gordon or the Greek Freak would put up.

Not jumping to any conclusions about Ben, I don't have him far off where the consensus is, I'm gathering info, its a process that I track closely, if you choose to get defensive about my observations. so be it. He's not that physically imposing to me for a #1 pick so I'm not apt to give him the benefit of the doubt, when there's other players who've got the talent and tools to make a case.

I usually get defensive over my observations, because I'm looking for a debate, and would love to drum up more perspective if there's some to be had..

If you want to argue about what is and isn't nitpicking and what is indicative of future successes lets have at it.. If not your just complaining, to inflate the post count, not to contribute on topic. Carrying on like schoolyard children though, I don't care, whatever keeps ya entertained, that type of **** doesn't hold my attention.

My message in response to the personal attacks is simply 'If you knew better, you'd do better'. Just being motivational, I think I read that one in a John Wooden book.

Calm down. He was averaging 19 PPG before this game.

There's a 6'10 guy that can ACTUALLY play SF, and Kinkkky is down on him? lol
