What's new

Following 2016 potential draftees

Gobert injures his knee the same day that Simmons goes off for 43 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists...

Hmm...

This is such a ****y season.

I kinda called it during the free agent period - that the Jazz weren't built to survive injuries this year, on purpose.. Not trying to tank for a top pick, but just get as good of a pick as possible.. That all seems like a possible reality right now.

Arkansaws vs Wake tonight. The big game is on the west coast though - #15 Oregon(-2) @ UNLV -- What will Pat McCaw do next?!

How about a 2019 post next?

You think posts about Siakam don't belong in this thread?!

Anyways - Watch out for Louis King a 6'8" SF from New Jersey, I know people who claimed to have worked with him, that swear he's gonna be a pro.

Also I caught another dated Oton Jankovic game. He might seriously end up the most talented Croatian prospect, he projects to be a really versatile over-sized guard, possibly a SF depending on how much more he grows.

It seems like the Lakers' devil luck to land Simmons as soon as Kobe retires.

Philly will have something to say about that. Lakers better stay in top 3 though if they want their pick. If not Philly could start to look really good.

Jamal Murray, ,Simmons,Saric/Noel,Okafor/Embiid(if healthy). I believe Philly also could get another high first round pick to address the two guard. Perhaps Korkmaz.

--edit Philly should also get two more first round picks, but probably 18th and later. Perhaps trade the two to move up.

Keep an eye on 6'10 Michigan Freshman, Moritz Wagner from Germany. He's shooting 3's early on.

Will post a new mock, with Brandon Ingram as the #1 pick later. There will be plenty of variance from the DX and NBAdarft ones that were recently posted.

That Sikiam dude plays Baylor on the 23rd. A matchup vs. Baylor big front-line should be interesting to see how legit he is.

Speaking of Baylor their leading scorer, Sophomore, Al Freeman is balling out of his face early on. 47% from 3 on 5.3attempts per game to start. Even though he's an undersized SG, there might be some team willing to take a flier on him, he's tough and almost alittle George Hill-ish.

I'd venture to say your going to be surprised at just how good Siakam looks. Rico Gathers is a beast but Tanveer Bhullar is 7'3" and 335lbs, NMSU has 5 Canadians, 3 players from France, A 6'11 Freshman from Colombia and a 6'3" freshman guard from Mexico.. Will be an interesting front-court matchup for sure, NMSU is a legitimately big college team.

Siakam's certainly underrated in DX's sophomore rankings, at least 30-40 spots too low.. He's almost 22, so he's one of the oldest Sophomores you'll find in the class - born in February 1994, he'd be auto-eligible this year if he were an international player..

It's funny that Vanderbilt just graduated his older brother James last year. I'm pretty sure they didn't recruit Pascal, who's obviously better and bigger (James is 6'7")..

I don't think he's a really elite athlete or anything like that, he's probably not a crazy explosive jumper, he certainly gets off the floor quickly and shows a nose for the ball and covering ground. Even tipping boards/keeping plays alive, he's got a knack for getting his hands on things. I'd guess he's going to measure a 7'3" wingspan, and that he's a legit 6'9" with a 35" vertical. His #'s are pretty close to Michael Beasley's as a freshman though, he's a one man wrecking crew every time I've seen him.

Dragan's older, shorter brother Ivan got his first minutes for Maryland last night. Made his only shot and grbbed 6 boards in 4 minutes.

Diamond Stone with a damn strong showing, he's over 60% from the field 75% from the line and hella productive in limited minutes. HE's firmly in the top-20 and trending upwards.

UNLV has a squad this year. They definitely should be in the top-25. Re-watching the game now - Tyler Dorsey needs some time. Chris Boucher for Oregon looks like some kind of find though.

Wake Forest's Devin Thomas absolutely beasted Arkansas last night. Moses Kingsley had a good game but Wake was too much around the basket. Thomas is totally going to get drafted. Trevor Booker is a great comparison IMO, Thomas's #'s are better SR year though, 15 and 8.5 boards vs 18.6 and 11.4 for Thomas so far

Strong Showing from 7' Doral Moore too. He had UK interest at one point, he moves better than you'd think when ya look at him.

Tyler Dorsey is an Alec Burks type of PG. He's like 6'4 with short arms though. I've followed his story for some time, interested to see how he transitions to College. He's shooting 40% from 3 so far, 0/3 in this game though.

Chris Boucher's 9 blocks the other day for Oregon was a school record.

UNLV is totally built for the tournament. I always like to look for teams with a really good big, and a really good guard, and they certainly meet those qualifications.

The Running Rebels logo is Yosemite Sam-esqe.

I can't help but notice that Pat McCaw celebrates his 3 pt makes by shaping his hand like a pistol, blowing it off, then holstering it. He's done it multiple times everytime I've seen UNLV this season.

In the NBA they'd fine him for it, Cost Gerald Green $25,000, they called it menacing gestures..

I've noticed they always show the replay of him doing it on TV, Just seems like hipocrasy IMO. Not blaming McCaw, it's just odd to me how they always show it on replay.

Killer article by Gary Parrish, check out how it starts. https://www.cbssports.com/collegeba...too-early-to-discount-skal-labissieres-talent

The Kentucky freshman was celebrated coming out of high school and projected to be a top-three pick in the NBA Draft, perhaps even the first overall selection. But he only scored three points in the second game of the season. And he only got four points in his fourth game. And when the Wildcats played another blue-blood program in December, another school that also has championship banners hanging from the rafters of its home arena, he finished with just two points and two rebounds in 19 minutes on the court.

You probably think I'm writing about Skal Labissiere.

But I'm not.

Those words above are about Karl-Anthony Towns.

Minus this bit, which is trash.

FIVE THINGS WORTH NOTING

3. UTEP is 6-1 with a win over Colorado State. But the Miners will play their toughest game Saturday when they host ... UT Arlington. Yes, UT Arlington. The Mavericks already own wins at Memphis and Ohio State, and they took Texas to OT. So they look like they might be the favorites in the Sun Belt even though they were picked eighth in the preseason poll.

What about New Mexico St. who just beat them easily?! He's sleeping on Siakam!!!

Crazy day of games!! NBA and NCAAF too. And a bigtime title fight tonight in Brookyln.

Watching #24 Louisville vs 6-0 Grand Canyon right now... It begins!!!

5th year transfer Damion Lee and 4-star recruit Ray Spaulding are both obvious NBA players.. Spaulding looks very impressive so far, he passes the eye test with flying colors.

Lee's much more than just a shooter, he get steals and can dribble. He's old but will certainly get looks in the NBA - he's more than good enough.

Rutgers-Seton Hall is a good game on right now too. Corey Sanders with 4 quick assists to start.
