Following potential 2012 draftees

Okay, I hope to debunk some myths about what SG's and SF's can stretch the defense (3pt shooting %). I took most everyone considered from #1 to #35 (to account for mocks being way off) and included some guys that are tweeners (PG/SG and SF/PF);

Wroten - 17%
MKG - 25%
PJONES3 - 29%
JLamb - 33%
TJones - 33%
Beal - 33%
QMiller - 35%
Crowder - 35%
Rivers - 36%
Ross - 36%
Waiters - 36%
Barnes - 38%
JTaylor - 42%
JJenkins - 43%
DLamb - 47%

It's obviously not all about 3pt shooting, but too many are calling guys, that are barely average in shooting, sharp-shooters.

You can post all the stats you want, people aren't going to listen. Appreciated though.

I would think jtaylor would be considered a sharp shooter.

Don't disagree. There are three guys on this list that are shooting a defense-stretching clip .. and those same three players have done it over their entire careers (none of them freshmen).

I'm really liking Bradley Beal. He can rebound the heck outta the ball for a 2 guard and is an excellent passer. I know he has the stroke to get his shot going. Anyone with me??

I was as high on Beal as anyone in the pre-season. His shot only worries me a little because a) I think he'll get the stroke back, and b) he does more on the court than just shoot .. mainly his insane rebounding numbers for a 2G. I like him around 7 - 10.

Beal's rebounding #'s are inflated because no one else on Florida rebounds.

Kind of like how Barnes's rebounding #'s are minimized because he plays with Henson and Zeller.

I agree with both of you to the nth degree. He has little penetration ability and moves too mechanically like cy said. He'll get exposed in the NBA. He also settles for chucking. We already have a pentrator in Burks. What we need are a stud point and preferably one who can shoot (Lillard/Marshall) and a stud defender at the 3 who can also shoot--Mitchell imo.

Lillard-Burks-Mitchell-Favors-Kanter would be the most athletic starting five in the NBA.

I say get Beal and Tony Mitchell. Then trade Al for a PG or just stick with Harris

You know, a guy like Barnes would actually be a good fit on the Jazz. With Burks slashing and Favors/Kanter crashing, having Barnes spotting up wouldn't be a bad thing. I just wish he had more dimensions to his game. We probably wouldn't be able to draft him anyway though, given where we're projected.

Yeah, he would be a good fit as a pure shooter. He is the kind of player I want, because he is good enough to play and defend, but he is also a sharpshooter (at times). I just don't think he is a top 3 pick. He will probably go 5th, no way he last till 8th.

I agree. Just like MKG will be great for some team, but not the Jazz .. Barnes will be a better fit here than most other spots.

This.

Though, he's not just a spot up shooter. The way some people on this board talk about him, you'd think they were talking about Korver.

So your point about Barnes, that I conceded, was that NC has him release to get out on the break but Florida has their SG in the paint to rebound with the bigs rather than release as well? Come on man, the kids an exceptional rebounder at his position. Period.
