What's new

Following potential 2012 draftees

First game that counts is Friday, but you'd only be able to catch that streaming and it's a cupcake. November 15th, however, is against Kansas at Madison Square Garden and will be nationally televised in ESPN. That will be a nice test for the UK youngsters as Kansas has a couple of lottery picks with a few years of NCAA experience.

Yea, not every team gets to play its first game on an aircraft carrier. Oh well. :)

Obviously this is pre-UK, but based on HBO's documentary on St. Patrick's in NJ, Kidd-Gilchrist has a ton of work to do as far as his handle and shot goes. I wasn't impressed. He's basically sort of like AK.

If that doc was the only thing I had seen of him, I would agree. Watch the games this year .. he's very special.

How worried are you about his shot though? I know he shot ~40% from 3 his senior year, but there's no denying he has bizarre form...it looking any better?

Never heard of them. How is Florida State doing this year in football? Did they beat Oklahoma like you predicted?

Predicted a year ago when I was pounding my chest. I never this year predicted they would beat them. If I did, I was simply talking smack and didn't mean it.

We'll see but I don't buy it. He looked too awkward in driving to the hoop and that's not something you just all of a sudden learn at the age of 18.

That's all we can do. I have an advantage, but I'm calling it .. every franchise will want this kid.

His shot doesn't look much better, but it's effective enough .. doesn't matter though .. tune in and you'll see why.

I like Gilchrist. His shot just worries me. I can't really say too much because I haven't seen him in an actual game. His awkward form just screams Ronnie Brewer to me. Which isnt bad because I was the biggest Brewer fan here, but I would want more from a lottery pick.

What happened?

Tons of turnovers and an extremely stagnate offense. Akron had one athletic 7 footer who was wrecking havoc with blocks. I hate Coach Stansbury's offense. Failing to feed Sidney in the post constantly. Whenever he got the ball something good happened, but it was a miracle if it ever got there.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Rick's coaching prowess. I watched a little and I saw Sidney looking good on offense (mostly) but sucking it on defense (other than a couple nice plays). I just don't think Stansbury can get the most of his players .. never really has. I loved/hated Varnardo, though.

Yes, completely agreed. Stansbury has a good record, but his offense is just ugly if the 3 ball isn't falling. It's the curse of being a Jazz fan. Whenever I see an offense that isn't constantly setting back screens and getting movement, I'm disgusted.

Yep .. I hate standing still. I want everyone moving, constantly trying to get open .. back-doors, etc .. DO SOMETHING!!!!! :)

I have another name to throw out there to watch ....... Jordan Taylor. Wisconsin is one of the most boring teams in the world to watch but Taylor has the mental ability to be something special. He is built like a tank, Plays solid d, runs the team very well and his jumper is impressive. Most of what I have seen is not a lot of passing but his mechanics are very good. To be honest he kind of reminds me of deron Williams.

Hard to gauge a player coached by Bo Ryan as his style is sooo .. well .. hmmm. Anyway, Taylor may be worth a try in the mid 2nd round .. but anything greater than that is a major risk, imo. Not only is he undersized (though thick as hell) but he's also not explosive. Nice shot, but at 6' (I think) he's got to have blow by ability .. and he doesn't .. or hasn't had the ability to show it. He could be a decent backup.
