Following potential 2012 draftees

This.

There aren't any picks as "safe" as Durant and Lebron were (Shabazz Muhammad will be though), but guys like Drummond and Davis are through the roof on the potential scale.

I can also easily see Kidd-Gilchrist becoming much more than a Gerald Wallace or Andre Iguodala as many people have pegged him to be.

Even if that is where he lands I will be happy. I think both players are extremely underrated and have a huge impact on teams wins/losses.

MKG won't be Iguodala. He doesn't the ball handling or passing ability of AI. Gerald Wallace comparison seems pretty valid, but I see more Shawn Marion. Shawn Marion had a lot of skills/feel for the game, but most of them are much worse in a halfcourt game compared to an uptempo offensive attack. Plus they both have funky shot mechanics.

Funny, remember when everyone hyped Barnes as the next Kobe and named his First Team Preseason All American?

Cy: I'm not calling MKG a stud. I am calling him a sure-fire bet though (because he has THAT level of intestinal fortitude).

Now, to your post above .. I have a difference of opinion as to how K-G does in the half-court. I like him equally as well in half or transition. He, better than anyone else on UK's team, gets into the lane and wreaks havoc on the defense. He does have the handles and passing to make ot count once he's in there .. though he normally just scores the ball or draws a foul and goes to the line.

Take a look at his FT attempts vs. Barnes or QMiller. I suspect those stats will tell a story about who is the aggressor into the paint.

Hmmm .. I stand corrected. Looked it up and there's not nearly the FT disparity as I thought there would have been between K-G and Barnes.

Gilchrist - 77
Barnes - 72
Miller - 48

Useless facts (at this stage) - MKG is shooting a higher % from the FT line than Barnes and higher % from the perimeter than QMiller ..

Perimeter shooting (in order)
Barnes
K-G
Miller

FT shooting (in order)
K-G
Barnes
Miller

Overall FG%
K-G
Barnes
Miller

False.

Haha, I do remember that though. Also, Shabazz is very intriguing, but I wouldn't put him ahead of Drummond/Davis until I see him play at least a few collegiate games.

Well clearly everyone is never accurate, but you know what I mean.

The difference is that Barnes doesn't, and never did, have that world class athleticism or competitiveness of Kobe, Shabazz does (at least the athletic part, can't totally talk up his competitive fire till he plays some college ball, I suppose).

Man, if the Jazz keep winning these home games and continue improving, we may not be sniffing any of these top lotto players. I love watching the Jazz win, but dang, will we have to settle for Terrence Ross or Myers Leonard after salivating over Gilchrest and Drummond?

I'm pleasantly surprised there aren't more BYU homers suggesting Brandon Davies after his 20/20 game this weekend.

Rooting for the Jazz to win, but I dont see it going on long term. We have beaten bad teams without their best players with the exception of the sixers. I stand by my prediction of 22/44. Should be good enough for pick 6-8.

Agreed about 22/44. I still don't understand all this talk about us finishing above .500.

I also view Barnes as the most offensively mature player in the draft. It seems like he could come in right away and average 12-15 ppg and start. I think that would be important because our team is so young we don't really need anymore project players. That would be my one fear in getting Miller.

My question is what Barnes can do when he's not dominating the ball?

Barnes = Glenn rice

mkg= grant hill

My best comparison. Can't go wrong either way, but a healthy grant hill clone would be awesome.

...Glenn Rice, Glen Robinson, Alan Houston, Calbert Cheaney, Steve Smith....

Grant Hill was a dominant player in college. Comparing MKG to Grant Hill is high praise.
