Following potential 2012 draftees

That Pierre Jackson is a much better player.

He just 20 and 14 against the #5 team in America.

Yet if you look at his averages, he's a 3rd year player who still averages almost as many turnovers as assists. I don't think he has what it takes to run a half-court offense, he seems to be a good shooter, but I just don't think that he will be as good of a point guard in the NBA as Trey Burke.

He averages two more assist than TO's per game......... Not great, but not "almost as many turnovers as assists".

He has a 1.5:1 Assist to TO ratio. Is that really what you want out of a PG?

It's not ideal, but the other things he brings to the table are great. Great shooter, great athlete (has a 40 inch vertical), can drive against anybody, good and willing passer.

Also, he is clutch. Plays better in big games and in big moments. Not even saying I want him, just saying if we are taking sub- 6' PG, I would take him.

Meh...I just don't like the fact that he seems to struggle to play in a half-court offense. I don't think he translates well to the NBA.

He definitely does not struggle in the half-court. Baylor is probably my 2nd most watched team, and he is fine in the half-court. His speed is unstoppable around picks, and his jump shot is lethal if you leave him open. He just has a tendency to get out of control at times, resulting in TO's.

He is probably Baylor's best and most consistent player thus far, which is saying a lot because they are a top 10 team.

Looking at the players in the 11 - 15 range on Draft Express, I'm pretty optimistic. They've got:
Jeremy Lamb, Quincy Miller, Meyers Leonard, and Terrence Ross. The Jazz should get a good rotation player.

Sign me up for Quincy Miller and Tony Wroten if we get 2 picks.

I would be happy with any of these guys : Jeremy Lamb, Quincy Miller, or MKG. I like Meyers Leonard size but where are the minutes for him? I don't know enough about Ross. I really liked Wroten when I saw him play for USA juniors but I haven't really seen him play since so I don't know if I would take him. My biggest question about him is his attitude. Jazz need a Earl Watson type of player (more mentality than physically) to be our PG.

Will have to do some research on Ross. Or PKM can give us his cliff notes.

I've watched a lot of Ross as he was a high school teammate of Terrence Jones and they were best friends. All of my concerns about Ross, other than one, centers around maturity or needing better coaching (that's a compliment).

He gets burned on defense quite a bit, but it's not a result of being limited physically (though he's not super long, for sure), but rather him just over-playing and going for too many steals and such. I see that is highly fixable. He chucks a lot (bad shot selection), but he makes big shots, so another area I believe is highly fixable (though no guarantee - see CJ).

What I like - His athleticism. He has an 'it' factor (extreme confidence). He hits big shots.

What I don't like - He doesn't strike me as overly smart (also known as kinda dumb).

What I see - Best case is, like someone else said, a more complete CJ. Worst case is CJ. Depends on whether he's coachable and can get it.

Wroten is not a pure PG and never will be. He's a combo that could become a highly effective player for the right team .. the Jazz are not that team.

I agree with what you said on all of QMiller, MKG, JLamb, and Leonard.

@ PKM: I think Wroten has the potential to be a star in the NBA. I think he's got PG skills and is clearly a bigger talent than Marshall, Kabongo and Teague. I think your concerns about Wroten are the same concerns that J'rue Holliday had coming out of college, and I think Wroten actually has more upside than Holliday. I also think we're so used to the Jazz running certain plays with certain gritty underdog players that we're not used to having real talent at multiple positions.

A team with Wroten, Burks/Hayward, Miller, Kanter and Favors and a few vets could be incredible.

Holiday averaged 3.68 assists in just 27 minutes a frosh in a very slow, deliberate (I believe anyway) half court system.

Wroten averages 3.316 assists per game for UW in 28 minutes per night. Not sure if they're up tempo or not.

Decent comparison.

You are correct concerning the tempos of both teams, fwiw.

@Catchall: I think Wroten has a world of talent. I am concerned, that in the three years I've watched him, he has not gotten markedly better. Also concerned about a guy that is shooting under 55% from the line and under 20% from the college line and against collegiate defenders. I certainly think he can be very good. I just think we need to try to draft someone that can shoot, please.
