Following potential 2012 draftees

I've been following alot of the same guys. I was high on Rivers but lost some interest when I watched him play as he's not a floor general but I think would be good for the Jazz. Kendall Marshall would be great but he has little offensive firepower.

First I hope we actually get 1st round draft picks this year since both have "conditions". I have no problem finishing out of the playoffs as long as we continue to see growth and maturity from our young players. I'd like to see Harris become more productive, as he is just not getting it done right now. It would be cool if Alex Burks could actually develop become our point guard............but not sure that could happen. He has a way of getting to the basket. We cool to seem him get a chance against GS. We are going to need PG help/depth as I believe this is Devin Harris' last contract year........so he'll be traded or possibly not resigned. Other available guards are Hinrich, A. Miller, S. Nash............of course, they'd just be filler til we can find "the man". CJ may also be gone.

Here are the guys I'm following as candidates. Of course, it varies depending on how many picks we get and where they are.

Meyers Leonard - more depth and would make loosing Jefferson easier to swallow when the time is right.
Kidd-Gilchrist - has alot of what we need.....he just goes after it.
Kendall Marshall - adds to PG depth, but not sure he's "the man".
Austin Rivers - more scoring power but kind of a Devin Harris type player.
Jared Sullinger - same as Meyers Leonard, makes Jefferson more expendible.
Damian Lilliard - PG depth with scoring ability
Tony Wroten - more PG Depth
Myck Kobango (sp?) - small (as in thin) but quick, could develop into a nice player.
Scott Machado - intriguing.

I have no interest in H. Barnes from UNC. I live here in NC and I just haven't bought into the hype. I think he's the next Marvin Williams. I wouldn't be totally disappointed in some sort of trade that might land us the right guy w/o loosing too much.

Tonight's game will be interesting.

I meant to add Leandro Barbosa and Goran Dragic to the list of potential PGs that could possibly help us next year. They have both played well against the Jazz.

I appreciate you going out on a limb and putting this on here. I don't like the guys in bold that you have put on here. They are all on my "no thanks" list for a variety of reasons. Leonard and Sullinger and a no thanks unless Jefferson is gone. Yes, Jefferson and not any of the other three.

You are even confusing myself with your screen name. Make sure you have good post or others will probably confuse you with myself. Where in NC from? I am from Wilmington.

Barbosa definitely is not a PG. He would just be a more erratic version of Devin Harris.

Not a fan of Dragic. Don't really see him as much, but I guess he could be our PG. Not really sure on his pure point ability.

Would you be happy with a line up similar to this next year

Watson, machado
Burks, rivers
Hayward, miller
Millsap, kanter, Evans
Jefferson, favors

Hopefully either trading Harris for future dp or cap space. Bench bell as a mentor for rivers burks. I wouldn't even mind see Anthony morrow for cj trade only 1 more year left. All very doable.

A Miller/Rivers draft is probably the most popular bandwagon at this point. Though, we'd be taking Rivers with the hope he can play the point.

So unbelievable .. With 31 nba brass in attendance last night, AndreDrummond pours in 0pts and 4rbs. JLamb with 7 points ... UConn has 2 lottery picks, 6 returning players from a nat'l championship, a top 2 recruiting class, and will fail to even make the NCAA tourney. Ouch.

*edit: and Shabazz Napier with 1 assist.

I guess this is making Kemba look that much better. UConn lost Kemba but added Drummond who arguably is a better player. Drummond at least has the size and skill to take over a game. Too bad he doesn't have the will to do so.

Kemba got tired of losing and willed his team to win. He's a winner. Drummond is soft, as advertised. Still think he'll become good/great, but never reach his potential. Think Davis is now consensus #1, as deserved.

Warning: Homer Post.

Comparing #1 and #2; (last 10 games)

Points:
Davis - 164
Drummond - 91

Rebounds:
Davis - 100
Drummond - 84

Blocks:
Davis - 52
Drummond - 25

FG%:
Davis - 70.1%
Drummond - 48.3%

FT%:
Davis - 73.6%
Drummond - 28.5%

I see you conspicuously left out turnovers. Is there a reason for this? Trying to hide something are we. :)

I would love this draft, however I do hope that Favors with an offseason under the Jazz coaching staff adn summer league is ready to assume a starting role. Love to see us be able to grab Augustine or Collison to pair with our youngsters. Neither is elite, but i think they both have the ability to run a team.

Turnovers:
Davis - 6
Drummond - 23 :)

Personal Fouls:
Davis - 17
Drummond - 22

Steals:
Davis - 15
Drummond - 7

Assists:
Davis - 9
Drummond - 8

I don't think I recall ever seeing the projected #1 and #2 draftees with one leading in EVERY statistical category.

It's not that I'm a huge fan but I remember when Dragic tore up the Jazz while he was with Phoenix and Nash was on the bench. He looked pretty good then.

Yes, Barbosa now plays more of a SG position but I think he backed up Nash early in his career and was drafted as a PG (I could be wrong). Nevertheless, he can score and can be very pesky defensively.

I'm not fixated on these guys by no means but they have been intriguing at times of the years. After Jeremy Lin's performance last night, I'm wondering how many years are left on his contract. He was doing it all......the kind of guy we need.

Davis is definitely #1 right now. Drummond has more potential, but Davis is more likely to actually reach his potential.

Here's an interesting question...if Favors was in this draft class, where would you rank him?

I live just north of Raleigh. I attended the University of Utah when they drafted Stockton and Malone,..........been following the Jazz ever since.

Probably third. Tough call though ... I could make a case for anything from 3 to about 6.

It's going to take a lot of time to make me a believer in a player like Rivers.

If the Jazz make the playoffs and the chips fall right, they could still walk away with Miller and Machado. I would be nothing short of elated.
