Following potential 2012 draftees

There are no bigs in this draft as promising as the two guys that spend 30 minutes every game rotting on the bench except Davis and Drummond. I don't know why they (Zellerzz, Jones, whoever) keep coming up.

Solid backups for the future...at least that's what I think of Zeller.

Am I far from the truth in saying P. Jones college career is similar to Favors career at GT, in that both fell short of their potential? With that said, is it possible Jones could be a better pro then college player?

Favors was in a situation where the guards wouldn't/couldn't get him the ball. When they did get him the ball, he performed. PJIII is a guy who doesn't seem to have 100% motor and who has nights where he disappears or shoots 1 for 5 in big games with low rebounds. I don't think it's the same situation. Jones has some physical tools, but he doesn't seem to have that much game or versatility right now. He can definitely score in certain situations, and maybe he's a streaky player. But he's probably going to have to play PF like Jan Vesely is doing, and he doesn't really like going inside. Truth be told, I'd still probably take Terrence Jones over Perry. If Terrence Jones were on Baylor, I'm pretty sure he'd put up some good numbers.

My take: Favors was raw with uber upside. Shy but not lazy. Jones is less raw, not so shy, but more lazy.
Favors plays close to the basket, jones falls in love with the perimeter. Favors is shackled by lack of self-belief, jones by self-entitlement. Give me Favors ... And I'll hope that, along the way, I can teach him to get pissed.

Maybe, but Drummond isn't Kwame Brown, and Quincy Miller isn't Darius Miles, etc. Just chiming in.

The reason I went with brown is because coming out of high school he was a complete stud. The difference was kwame never pushed to get better. I can see that being Drummond. Now if drummond applies himself he has a much higher ceiling. That is why I said kwame. Not kwame now when he was drafted.

Again q miler same thing miles had a ton of talent but a knee injury ended his career. Then bad habits. I am comparing talent physical gifts. Don't get lost in the comparisons career but in his talent.

I would love to be able to get say Miller and Austin Rivers.

I think what the Jazz really need is a player with the ability to be a go-to scorer. We can get a distributing PG in free agency if we have a nice team, but we need an all-star level wing player to really have a chance with this team.

Don't worry everyone, I have a solution to both problems. PJ3 will look like a #1 pick when I get done with him.

This is a simple fix. His name is Karl Malone. The Jazz just need to hire him and he will instill fire into any player.

Favors plays close to the basket, jones falls in love with the perimeter.

Hornecek can fix anyone's shot and turn them into a 40%+ shooter from the perimeter. If Jones is going to be playing outside he might as well light it up right?

Malone and Hornecek, a deadly combination for any team not named the Jazz.

(This has been brought to you today by the office of "Former Jazzmen Can Fix Any Problem" as well as "Sarcasm".)

I bow. Thank you.

Homeristic but cool post.

Homeristic but cool post.

Both of things things are true, but I continue to hear that type of talk around here and I thought that I would join in as well. It is a lot of fun. Suddenly any player makes sense for the Jazz to pick up. If you are already a Jazz player then all hope is lost. Only future Jazz players work in this scenario, ie Miles will never work, but Marshall will.

Maybe that post is a little too harsh to those that believe that Horny can fix Marshall's shot.

I'm good with this, even though I really want Marshall. If we do draft Rivers does that make Burks expendable, if so trade burks for a pick to take Marshall and filler.

Playing him under 20mins per game isn't helping with this.
