Following potential 2012 draftees

Does the season need to completely conclude before a trade is made? Or can two teams out of the playoffs consumate a trade at any time leading up to the draft? All I want is one pick in this draft and Jefferson out of here. Any rumbling about Ty Corbin? i think the Jazz need Nate Mcmillian. he is great at grooming young players and preaches a solid offense and defense. I liked watching the Portland teams of a few years ago.

Also, take this with a grain of salt (I am), but was told the Jazz are NOT high on either Lillard or Marshall.

Could be a smokescreen, but if not I'm glad. I haven't been really high on them either, but I've been second guessing myself what with all the love they've been getting on this board.

I wish there was a PG I was excited about.

Rondo might be the best semi-likely one. Or of course Dwill. :) (ain't happening, kids. Not without committing more $ than I want the Jazz to spend on a PG).

Had dinner and drinks with some folks last night. There are actually two teams we're talking with. We ARE trying to deal Al. One team wanted Sap but was told no. However, they do not want/need Al. We are currently pushing a cash and 2 future picks (I 'believe' it's a 1st next year and a 2nd in '14) .. no idea how that is being rec'd. Yes, it is Houston, confirmed.

Also, take this with a grain of salt (I am), but was told the Jazz are NOT high on either Lillard or Marshall. I asked who they're zeroing in on around 15'ish .. they SAID they didn't know and I truly have no idea. Will this deal work? Obviously no one knows .. but what IS promising, is that it at least appears this is more than just a simple floater of an idea.

Meeting some more folks in Chicago this coming Monday .. maybe there will be something else, but I just think there's way too much fluidity for there to be any truly reliable insider stuff. If KOC doesn't know if there's a deal, no one does. I'm not claiming to have any substantial info, just sharing the roundtable rumors with those that enjoy a little drama. Please understand though that nothing is anything more than talk (I know everyone knows that, just sayin').

Gotto rep you for just trying to get 'something' for us to look forward to. Playoffs, as important it is for our future young guys, will likely only last 2-3 more games. So yes this thread is important going forward.

Onto Lillard & Marshall... I can believe that (if that is true). KOC is notorious for picking BPA. And you've gotto question the validity of both Lillard & Marshall being in the top 10 when they were both project outside #15 just 2-3 months ago.. May be what brought them up the ladder is the lack of PG in this draft with some teams desperately needing a future PG (Hornets, Portland, Phoenix, Toronto). Lillard can score but he's still very passive as a passer/floor general. Marshall is a great passer but lack almost everything else... They both require you to take a pretty big leap of faith IMO.. (believe me I know all about that, being a Christian).

With Harris still in the fold for 1 more year, I can certainly see KOC holding onto status quo (and pressuring Harris to step up his game next year) and loading up on future draft picks... It's certainly his style....

I dunno PKM, for some reason KOC wanting to trade Big Al seems too good to be true.
Big Al for cash + 2 first round picks is a meh deal. I mean how much more do we keep building into the future?

The Jazz not being high on Marshall is kind of a downer, but I can believe it. I just hope that the Jazz are targeting a PG sometime soon....

Woah, Big Al for cash and both of Houston's first rounders??

I would ****ing lose it from excitement. We could probably package both picks and a player for a 7-10th pick at least. Not that we should, but hey, just some food for thought. Maybe we could get crafty, and trade someone like Burks + Meyers Leonard (if we hypothetically draft him) for a 5th overall pick, I dunno.

I don't think the rights to a Euro who hasn't played a minute of NBA bball removes their interest in Al. I think Houston is among the most likely destinations. I think we'll have to take back a contract; picks and cash is just too good to be true.

A one-year swap of Big Al and KMart might make sense for everybody.

Remember when everyone was sooooo excited to get BIG LOW POST ALL TIME NUMBER ONE for draft picks and cash (essentially, since Minnesota didn't really have to take back anything)?

I guess I don't know the value of the draft picks we'd get. Like are they Houston's picks? If so, they're probably around 13-18 which isn't really great......Getting rid of Big Al is the best thing about this hypothetical trade. We COULD package the picks and then they'd be worth it.

I'm going to attempt to generally respond to recent posts. If I miss something specific, let me know.

- One of the first things I thought when I was told the Jazz were not that interested in either Lillard or Marshall, was that it could be mis-direction .. thereby making that piece of info almost useless.
- However, tonight I heard the Jazz ARE targeting a PG outside of the draft. Trying hard to get the name .. again, COULD all be a smokescreen? I tend to not think so because we currently have no pick .. but who knows.
- Do not know who the 'other' team was/is aside from HOU.
- Sorry for the confusion re: Al. It was neither of the two options outlined here. It was that the Jazz were trying to deal Al as part of a deal for the 1st round pick (no idea the rest of the deal), team didn't want Al .. but wanted Sap .. Jazz said no. Jazz proposed their cash plus a couple of futures for their 2012 (I believe this was proposed to the 'other' team, but don't know that for sure). I hope I said it right this time, but it's been a long day, lol.

Tired. Back on a plane at 11 and hope to get some more info. I truly enjoy talkin' ball with y'all.
