Following potential 2012 draftees

In the video the coach says he benched 185 lbs. 29 times, that is pretty ridiculous.

To compare, Kanter and Favors only did in 14. The highest ever at any combine is 27, so if he can do that in a combine, he will break a record.

I hope he hasn't stinted his lower body and core strength. The upper body isn't good for much if it doesn't have a base to push against.

After watching the video I see a guy that is going to get his shot blocked a lot the rim. He doesn't explode off the court and/or finish strong if he doesn't have straight line run at a dunk.

If he had a jumper things would be different. For example picture Favors guarding him. White isn't going to just overpower Favors. If he puts up the weaksauce shots shown in the video Favors would block it nine times out of ten. He hasn't show a fade-away or a faceup jumper. I think his draft stock is about right.

Not a lot to see, but here's a workout vid of Doron Lamb.

Ideally White would be an energy bench guy that brings toughness to a second unit.

From Chad Ford.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is a winner.

Ford thinks it would be crazy to judge MKG on the hitch in his jumpshot, ball handling, and his “offensively challenged” game. “He’s a flat-out winner,” Ford writes.

And it’s not just Chad Ford, one NBA GM said his scouts and coaches love him, too:

“All of my scouts love him,” one GM said. “Actually love isn’t a strong enough word. Our coaches, when they watch him play, beg me to go get him. I’ve stood back for the past few months saying, ‘What about his jump shot?’ ‘Can he create his own shot?’ ‘Is he big enough to thrive in the NBA?’ I’ve given up. I love him now more than they do. He has the ability to dramatically affect a game with and without the ball in his hands. Whenever he steps on or off the court, everything changes. He’s a winner. He’s a leader. That motor he has, the toughness he has, the intensity that he has … those are NBA skills, too.”

The only problem is he could very well end up in Charlotte, where that winning attitude would be put to the test. Charlotte isn’t anywhere close to turning things around so Michael Kidd-Gilchrist would have to accept losing for the first time in his life.

But if he can slip to Washington or Cleveland, playing alongside John Wall or Kyrie Irving would set MKG up to help bring one of those teams back from the dead.

I do not think he will accept it. I hope he turns that intensity and desire into pushing his teammates. The Bobcats are only going to go so far but having MKG lighting fires under everyone is a real possibility.

Edit: Even though he will not be a Jazzman I'd love to see him succeed. Type of player that I love.

Thanks for sharing. I would rep you if I could. His biggest inefficiencies are shooting and being tuned in. I say get him with Horny and Malone and they will fix him up right. Former Jazz stars can fix anything!

when I read the Royce White breakdowns I think: this dude sounds like a bigger, beefed up Alec Burks with attitude issues.

He's worth an early-20s pick. He seems like a bad fit due to shooting and defensive issues.

I wouldn't mind him manning the high post as a Jazz man.

There is a Darius Miller (or 3) in every draft. Royce White is one of the most unique players of the past decade. I'd rather take a risk on him.

I could be happy either way. Take the polish of a Darius Miller (along with his 45% 3pt shooting). Or the strength of White and his 4% FT shooting. Tomato/tomawto.

Can Royce play the 3? Can he defend anybody? Can he hit the broad side of a barn?

I agree that he is absolutely intriguing and unique. I'd like him a lot more if I felt like we would adopt a more unconventional offense and let him (and Hayward... and Burks...) initiate the offense and exploit the defense. A lineup with all three players would be very hard to game plan against... what are you gonna get?
