Following potential 2013 draftees

Yesterday's UK game.

Alex Poythress - Losing interest in him because it doesn't seem he can want it badly enough. At this point I'd put him late teens based purely on potential. Shame.

Archie Goodwin - Reminds me of Alec quite a bit .. I mean that more in a bad way than good .. he's awesome, but it's not quite clicking between the ears.

Ryan Harrow - Playing incredibly well .. very happy. However, I think he's too frail for the league.

Noel - Going to be a beast.

WCS - At this point, I'd have him in the lottery and approaching top10. He's got insane upside. Could bust, I suppose, but dude is legit and 7' ..

Wiltjer - Great shot (elite), but way too slow-footed to guard ANYONE in the league.

Not a glowing report, I know .. but I see no Jazz needs being filled by UK guys. Exception would be snagging Willie Cauley-Stein to replace Jefferson and/or Millsap as the 3rd/4th big and see what kind of potential he reaches.

Interesting. As the season has progressed, my interest for anyone that plays for UK that is not a center has digressed a lot.

I really like the idea of adding WCS as a third big, and here is why. Doesn't seem to have an ego. As PKM mentioned, has a ton of upside. Legit size. Good motor, not great, just good. Willing. He does have a ways to go but the Jazz are not peaking next year and probably not the year after either. That would give WCS two years in the NBA to develop.

I like that scenario a lot.

With the crop at PG this year I feel like the Jazz should still draft PBA regardless of position. Don't reach for a future back-up/potential bust/non-traditional PG. It is not worth it. Just say no!

Btw, yesterday in the first half (14 minutes of play), WCS had 6pts (on 3/3 shooting), 4rbs, 4asts, 2stls, and 4blks .. playing at Vanderbilt. Not that any one of those numbers are overly impressive (well, the blks are), but it shows how much he impacts the game. I was amazed at his defense. He plays perimeter d extremely well .. in addition to defending the rim. I like him because being a 7 footer, nonstop motor, the fastest guy on the team (literally), and had the hands to be an all-state wide receiver .. that, ladies and gentlemen, speaks upside.

And all of that is what worries me. The fact that those numbers and those abilities all mean that he can impact (not necessarily dominate) all aspects of the game. I think his stock will continue to rise.

Also, he seems like a better player already compared to the first few games of the season. That also worries me because as a big man his stock will naturally rise and the Jazz are not tanking anytime soon.

One last note, I love big men that can pass.

ChadF said he could easily see WCS land in the top10 .. from complete obscurity. He was not even mentioned, at all, in this draft or the next only a few months ago ..

Lately everything out of your computer/phone/other electronic devices, PKM, has been depressing me. Try and share some sunshine. Ok?

Having said all that, I do think WCS goes more around 14/15 ..

I also agree that this year we just need to go BPA (as always, actually). We could basically use any position (other than maybe a non-passing PG or a poor shooting SG, lol).

That is better. Keep up the good work.

Here's a recent vid. Two games ago .. shows his athleticism, motor, and ability to run the floor as well as any 7 footer I've seen.

If you owl is to point out that I am wrong about his motor then you are doing a great job. You not have to keep selling me on WCS though.

I just wanted to get in the first post. :-)

Welcome back, everyone.

And then?

Goodwin
Poythress

Anyone else? I just don't see Wiltjer or Harrow staying in the league, if they even make it that is.

I'm afraid the Cal's first round PG streak might be over.
