Following potential 2013 draftees

Just curious, but with Millsap and Al both potentially gone next year, should the jazz address the lack of backup bigs in the draft and sign a pg in freeagentcy or the other way around?

Ford currently has Archie Goodwin at #17, exactly where we would be picking right now. I'd be stoked if he fell that far to us.

Spoke with a couple scouts that think he'll make a better pro than college player. No time right now to get into the details, but thought I'd share that much..

I actually like looking at HS highlights. It shows players' raw talent before they've developed and how they like to play. The third video, has a double cross-over and whip pass for an assist. It's the kind of thing a player wouldn't be allowed to do in a college game.

I wonder if he wears #22 because he likes Rudy Gay.

I've read many people on here going back and forth with which point guard we should take in the '13 draft. My question is, which of these guys is great in transition? I ask that because if we jettison Al, we could and should be an up tempo team (Favors, Kanter, maybe Millsap still, Hayward, Burks, can all run) next season. I would guess MCW but have no real reason to think so other than his size. If it is him, we could really be an up tempo offensive team with lockdown potential on defense. I know most seem to like Burke though.

MCW can finish and make plays for others very well in transition.

If we're going down that "running game" style of play, I think having a traditional PG might be redundant. Yes MCW might be well suited for the running game. But why not have Burks handle the ball and play the PG? He can run, he can pas. Hayward can also run & pass.

Then, instead of getting MCW, may be we pick a stud SF to run along side Burks & Hayward and can finish strong at the rim. Someone Burks/Hayward can throw alley hoops to all day long would make Jazz a very exciting team to watch.

Deshaun Thomas is one of my favorite players if not my favorite in the NCAA today. Thomas averages on the season are 20.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 1.5 APG, right now he is a borderline first-round pick. As a junior he is 6'7, 225 lbs, which is pretty good size for a small forward in the NBA. Ohio St. will definitely be in the NCAA Tournament and in my opinion will make a very deep run, so scouts are going to have plenty of time to watch Thomas play. His stock will rise into a late-first round pick I think, if the Jazz end up with a pick from 22-23 on and Thomas is the BPA I would be all for taking a chance on him.

Jazz need to get one of the following in the draft for me to be happy: Marcus Smart, Michael Carter-Williams, C.J. McCollum, Trey Burke, or Myck Kabongo.
